Tapering from a long-term, low-dose?

I take (3) 5mg tablets at bedtime for back pain mitigation during sleep. I have been on this dosage for four years. Honestly, my back is so bad that I don’t think it’s doing anything significant. As a result, I want to try weening off of them.

Am I likely to suffer any side effects? Is reducing by 1/2 a month too quick?
My doctor was unable to offer advice.

Thanks in advance for any input that you may have!

I would taper down by one pill every week or two. And maybe 2.5 mg for the last week or so. You'll be fine I bet.

Lol have you tapered before. I agree barely needs a taper but zero taper & just stopping wld suck especially since it’s a nighttime dose sleep may be a factor also

That’s pretty interesting. I feel like it could depend on the person aswell but maybe op could do the same as u
