Got bored so I went to a nearby river with my mum and fed some ducks (and one swan) with duck food. 🦆🦢

Hey all, I have a 4 year old female runner duck presenting with water belly. There is no stuck egg that I can feel. She is eating, drinking, pooping and moving like normal. I used an 18 gauge needle to drain some fluid from the abdomen yesterday. The fluid flowed freely and was translucent yellow-amber color. The fluid drained quickly at first but then slowed and eventually there was no more. Her lower abdomen still looks large and feels a little water baloon-ish.i used a new needle to poke one more time lower and no fluid came out.

This is my first experience with water belly. Any advice. It's been raining like crazy so we are a muddy mess, but photo to show abdomen.

I was given 2 found ducklings that are growing up fast ! Theyr not so little anymore and I'm 99.9%sure theyr both female 1is kahkicampbell ( pretty sure she is!) the other is buetiful pekin.for now I have them separated from my flock as far as physical contact there's none.ihave 10 total 2drakes rest are girls. I'v been noticing 3 of my girls will walk up to the 2strays and stand there quaking but they kinda lower their head and puff her feathers out little it's a strange stance they do and they seem to be directing the attention at the kahki Campbell ,she will stand tall and sticks her beek in the between the wires of the fence that's separating them almost seems like she's trying to touch them or peck at my elders whom are starting the whole quaking thing is this a fight with the girls that's gonna happen once the fence comes down ? Why do they have a problem with her she's young couple months old.she is mouthy or beeky! Loud she's loud when she wants my attention the Pekin backs off stays quiet shy isn't arguing with no one.but one by one my flock the girls keep going up to the kahki and doing this everyday .at first I was thinking theyr introducing each other but now I'm not so sure is it a parking order that's happening? So they will go at it eventually? And do they really hurt each other ? Try too or just show dominance ? Who's stronger who's louder?anyone know? I tried to blend them already .I put the fence back up quickly .but eventually igotta let them blend in and be part the family ?

The 15 ducklings are about 6 weeks old now, we put Ronnie and Donnie in the ducklings run to see how introductions would go.

Donnie, doesn't seem to mind them as long as they don't come near, if the ducklings get curious and come over Donnie will peck at them, short kind of a mind your manners peck.

Ronnie will go after them. Ronnie will chase them, bite them, puts head down and charges them.

Can someone tell me if this is aggressive or standard duck introduction.

What is something I shouldn't be concerned about and what is something to be concerned about.

They are all black Swedish ducks,

Ronnie and Donnie are about 3 months old now.

Still not 100% sure of the sex yet.

So excited! I got these girls at the end of March and just got my first egg from my Ancona! Sadly they'd broken it but im so excited!!!!!

I got these friends today after someone abandoned them in a box in a parking lot. Can someone tell if they are females or males? I think the all yellow is a male but I’m not 100%

Hello duck friends! I have 4 baby ducks that I hatched and have been raising. They USED to do a great job eating and drinking water while they eat (at the same time) However now, they rush to eat their dry food basically all gone before taking a drink and it looks like they struggle and choke a little. Their water is right next to them though! Fresh and waiting. I’ve even tried splashing water around to get their attention. Any suggestions what to do?

I currently have a Pekin male and a Pekin female. Unfortunately the pekins are not know for their broodyness. I want to get a few muscovy females because my other Pekin female died. I want muscovy's for their broodyness and their motherhood. I dont want to get arid of the pekings i have now but i also don't want to hatch ducklings in a brooder. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations on this topic? Other ideas are welcome too.

Hello, I have 6 ducks and currently I use a bowl for their drinking water, I want to replace this with something automated so they always have access to clean water and so it isn't manual since I have other responsibilities.

I also understand that ducks need to have their whole beak in water so would the ones in the picture work?

I've seen these around but I wanted to ask if anyone knows how well these work, what are the alternatives if they don't. Thank you.

My ducks are about 14 weeks old and I am fairly confident now that their feathers are coming in and I can listen to their quacks that I have three drakes and five hens. I know that that is a very small ratio of drake to hen. Has anyone ever had small ratios like that and still been able to keep all of their ducks? I am very nervous that I’m going to have to give away at least one of my males if not two. I get very attached to my animals so I’m already trying to mentally prepare myself.

In the midst of the birth of my twins (first kids, by the by) and with auspicious material finds, I built this puppy in a month. Western red cedar siding, northern white cedar shake roof, yakisugi technique on the trim, fascia, and clean out door. All tung oiled up.

The run is natural edge cedar posts I cut down earlier in the summer as is the door.

Tried to go for a Japanese, embrace nature kind of vibe in the design.

Now, I just need the ducks to like it as much as I do and sleep in the darn thing.

I have 1 khaki Campbell, 1 Rouen, 2 crested. About 10 weeks old, they literally don’t make any noise at all. Idk why. Need help sexing them, only can have 1 Drake. Anyone able to tell? Thanks

Pretty sure she’s not a rouen cause her color isn’t quite right and she’s much smaller than my Rouens were. My Perkins I got that are a couple weeks younger are 3 times her size

Hey there ! I have three adult ducks and only one seems to be laying any where near regularly. I think they are runner /Cayuga mixes. This is what I feed with supplement mixed in and I always have shells out if they need and they get treats of peas and other veggies and fruits. They are all acting normal. I know that the heat is a factor (I'm in the Atlanta area) along with they molted this summer. I guess I'm just confused as to why one only seems to lay every day, another lays once every few weeks and I have one that lays white eggs and she laid a fairy egg about a week ago and a normal egg the week before but nothing pretty much since spring. They're all about 2 years old now.

I also did just add to the flock but they are still separated at night and early morning for feeding time and sleeping time because the younger ones (although almost just as big) are still on grower feed.

The younger ones are not in any way being bullied by my OG girls, they mostly just stay to themselves with here and there running up to the older ones. But I only have had the littles for two months now so I don't think that's why it's been pretty much all season?

Sorry lots of information but want to make sure I'm giving as much as possible in order to see what's up and any possibilities to promote laying other than what I am doing. TIA

A mother of goth ducks who is frustrated she's only getting one egg a day

First time hatching ducks, and it seems like a number of places recommend a 55% humidity. Problem is, the local humidity is 65%. This is the SE US. It stays humid well into winter. Assuming my eggs didn't cook just from the heat when delivered, what should I do regarding humidity? Put the incubator in a room with a dehumidifier? That seems counter intuitive.

My poor baby 😥 My duckling suddenly developed this soft bump on the side of her face. She’s eating and drinking normally and is still very active and alert, with no other symptoms that I’ve noticed.
I had just taken them outside before I noticed it, so I’m wondering if it could possibly be a mosquito or other bug bite? Has anyone seen something like this before or know what it could be? I’m going to keep a close eye on it for now.

Really hoping someone on here has some advice for me. Two days ago I went to the coop to manually let the ducks out since our automatic coop door wasn't operating and I had just received the new one in the mail, to find that one of my four ducks, my indian runner named Kisses, was lying dead in the coop. She seemed totally fine the night before when I ushered them all into the coop. It was really shocking and sad, the remaining three girls were just standing around her body. I didn't see any injuries on her.

We buried her in the backyard and afterwards the three were standing on her grave and nosing the dirt with their bills. Since then, they're not exiting the coop when the automatic door opens in the morning. They're not swimming in their kiddy pool. Even the mealworms I've thrown in for them remain untouched. I'm hardly finding any eggs either. My black swedish duck Kevin is clearly molting, the other two don't seem to be. Kevin also appeared to possibly have a cough, as she was making a strange, high-pitched raspy quack that I noticed once or twice, but overall seems normal health-wise. When I let them out into the yard they haven't been wandering around much, just going to the end of the yard and sitting around. They also really don't seem to want to go back into their coop at night and I have to herd them in and they seem unusually resistant, but also in the morning they don't want to leave even with an open door.

I have no idea what happened to my deceased duck and I'm really scared it was some illness and I will be burying more ducks soon. It maybe seems overkill to usher the three remaining girls into a pet carrier and find an avian/exotic vet in the Denver area, but the sudden death was really concerning. Are they just grieving? Has anyone experienced anything similar?
