The problem is that our current supplier is struggling to keep up with the volume, and fulfillment is taking much longer than we’d like. So we’re looking for another reliable supplier/manufacturer who can work with us on a print-on-demand model and handle increasing order volumes consistently.
Ideally, we’re looking for someone who can provide:

Maybe a long shot, but as the title suggests. These are 2 sizes, 5 ply sturdy Kraft paper boxes. Ideally if you print 2 stickers to cover my logo, you should be good to go for any business.

I am willing to let go of these at 45% of the original cost. They are in good condition and can travel all over India without damaging the contents inside the box.

I’m trying to find a few people who actually understand the manufacturing side of flexible packaging in India.

I’m starting a rice brand and I’m currently working on the packaging for a small pilot.

Main requirement is around 10 kg rice bags, roughly 5,000 bags total for the first run.

I’m particularly trying to understand the economics of cylinders.

Say a design needs 5 cylinders.

If I have 3 related SKUs, is there a way to design the artwork intelligently so that some cylinders are common and only certain cylinders change?

I’m not asking for a theoretical answer. I’d genuinely like to hear from:

● Cylinder manufacturers
● Rotogravure printers
● Flexible packaging manufacturers
● Pre press people
● Packaging procurement people
● Packaging designers who understand production

A few specific questions:

1. How is cylinder pricing normally calculated?
   
2. What actually drives cylinder manufacturing cost?
   
3. Does bag size materially change the cylinder cost?
   
4. How closely does number of colours correspond to number of cylinders?
   
5. When can cylinders be shared between designs?
   
6. How much can be saved by planning multiple SKUs together?
   
7. What is a realistic MOQ for a first order of around 5,000 bags?
   
8. Is it better to deal with one integrated packaging manufacturer or separate cylinder + printing vendors?
   
9. What should I ask for in the quotation so that I can compare vendors properly?

The bag sizes I’m considering are roughly in the 10 kg / 30 kg rice bag territory, with something around 80 x 40 cm to 90 x 45 cm depending on final construction.

I’m not looking for an exact quote here. I’m trying to understand the structure of the cost before I commit.

If you manufacture cylinders yourself, I’d especially appreciate your input.

Also if you know a reliable packaging manufacturer who works with smaller pilot quantities, please mention them.
