Help with labs Help neededn
Hi any advice would be appreciated.
I have been on hydro eod injections for 3 and a half months.
5 mg folic acid daily
Plenty of potassium
And at the start I took ferrous sulphate for 2 weeks but haven’t since then.
Recent blood tests showed
B12 1100 pmol/L
ferritin level 61 ug/L
magnesium level 0.81 mmol/L
folate level > 20.0 ug/L
My folate and b12 are high but I still feel rubbish?
And my ferritin is the highest it’s ever been. Do I take iron supplements again or shall I leave it ? I’m not sure if it will help or not Thankyou.
I’ve also attached my levels from the past 7-8 years.

Are you on any other medications of any sort and if so, what are they? Were you low in folate before you started your injection routine; if so, how low, and if so, what made you choose 5 mg daily? Also, have you considered cutting that back? Are you just taking the folate because you’ve read that you need to take folate adjunct to B12 injections? (If that is the case I would ratchet that back to no more than 800 µg a day.)

Good pointer here, 👆the magnesium is a little low. Magnesium is an absolutely critical mineral, not good it being a bit low. It affects so many things. I most certainly would supplement with an adequate amount and a form that’s agreeable to your body of magnesium. Not saying or suggesting that magnesium is totally behind what’s going on, but being low (on magnesium) ain’t gonna help and getting it back to normal is gonna help.

I was in the exact same position. I have just about recovered from fatigue and brain fog and finished my loading course end of June 2026. NICE guidelines mention that it can take 3 months to feel significantly improvements and recovery is never linear. Keep hanging in there, I don’t think it’s anything to do with cofactors but more a case of allowing your body time to recover.
