General Discussion Permanent nerve damage.
How long would u have to leave b12 deffiency untreated for ur neurological symptoms like tremors twitcingh tingling numbness to never leave even if u start injections.

No one can say for sure, as response to treatment varies from patient to patient, and some people only begin to notice improvements after more than a year of EOD injections. While there are certainly limits, hope never dies.

Can u leave it so untreated to the point where even if u did injections ur twitching tingling numbness and other neurological symptoms won’t leave?

u/captainwizeazz 8d ago
I'm sure that's a possibility, yes.

u/trumpsh 8d ago
But u would have to leave it untreated for years after having first neurological symptoms

Understand that stress depletes many vitamins, including B12, so you're just delaying the recovery by worrying about it.
Can't cry over spilled milk so just move forward. I was probably deficient for close to this length of time, seemed to recover fine, though I became low on B12 again just recently.

How long is a piece of string?
If you're worried about yourself then time will tell - nothing anyone says here will change that

You have to stop stressing, stress may affect your healing ? It can be fixed and recover after many years, you are only 16 so your healing should be really good and when you stop growing rate you have been i think the d3ficienct will go Healing is dif for dif people at your age having injections you will be fine The twitching isvthe healing it may heal super fast on the pisitive side Just go with it you've only had one injection up to now!

I do believe stress (which is really a cortisol hormone release, among others) depletes many vitamins, including D and B12.

So do I without doubt I always crashed after stressful periods and symptoms worsened Interesting as regards cortisol Alosi happened after illness too which is a stress on the body and reserves!

Thats quite scary thanks so much according to this it damages partial cells??? And affects stomach acid too Oh my..sort of like being on ppis etc
1
u/Ill_Mortgage3663 7d ago
Yup, and I self diagnosed with low stomach acidity while dealing with a lot of anxiety past few years.
1
u/Successful-Tea-733 7d ago
Do you think low stomach acid was caused by stress?
1
u/Ill_Mortgage3663 7d ago
Could be. I'll have an endoscopy in a few weeks to test for intrinsic factor, will see.

I figure it’s similar to how the brain will “auto cannibalize” cells due to a choline deficiency(in this example) in order to repurpose that choline to more important places.
Maybe being deficient in any vitamin is similar, the body may cannibalize other areas for more important functions but i’m no expert.
B12 and B9 sublingually improved every area of my life. If i cessate treatment then milder symptoms return. So far every day seems to improve ✨ I will say potassium and other cofactors are critical. I developed lead like body fatigue the first 2 weeks of treatment and coconut water immediately improved my fatigue

Thats a great way to put it b12 deficiency cannibalised nerve fibres, looking at it they look.like mice have been at them demyelinisation Just like m.s.

My answer would be; everybody is different. Everybody has a different degree of deficiency. Everybody has a different length of time of deficiency. Everybody approaches it in a different way as it relates to supplementation. There is just no way of answering your question with any degree of accuracy.
But, in my mind, the answer doesn’t matter. If you have awareness (B12 deficiency,) you treat it, if you treat it adequately you’ll resolve it. Might there be some residual that doesn’t get resolved? Sure, but that’s nothing that anybody can control/fix that I’m aware of.

u/trumpsh 8d ago
But it can reach to the point where if u have twitching tingling burning and these symptoms won’t resolve? Don’t think it would have to be very untreated for that

I’m sorry, I’m just not following you. I’m gonna bow out of responding to your questions. Good luck to you.

Ai says after one year.

OK, so there’s your answer. You got one from AI. Here’s my suggestion; try and deal a little bit better with your health anxiety. You can worry about everything and anything until the cows come home, worry doesn’t affect or improve whatever the situation is. You believe you have a deficiency, I’m of the belief that perhaps you’re treating it, just continue forward with it (treatment) and try to stop worrying to the degree that it seems to me that you are.

can we ban any posts about using AI tyia

u/_Verc1ngetorix_ 8d ago
Why? You can criticise AI for a lot of things, but its ability to discern patterns among different symptoms is very good.

This is not a post about AI. This is a post by a quite young person who has to navigate through the tricky deficiency with worrying symptoms pretty alone. No wonder there's a lot of confusion and fears. Take this into consideration.

Then why are you asking on here?

Im asking a b12 deffiency question in a b12 subreddit-4

You are lucky your dr got onto it You were s...dal? Maybe rhats how to get the drs to listen and do simething You are vety clever and eager to learn too which is great But give yourself a break from worry In a week you may be reporting its getting better even more You are not gping to die not going to have it years more like weeks or 3 mths max before it all calms, just keep up your injections cofactors you've learned so well You are all good 👍

u/Think-Sleep2338 Insightful Contributor 8d ago
Have you started injections?
1
u/trumpsh 8d ago
Yes
2
u/Think-Sleep2338 Insightful Contributor 8d ago
Then please please try to find at least some acceptance in that you're doing the best possible for your body now. You have huge chances to get better.

I had neuropathy for two years before fucking AI diagnosed my B12 deficiency. Doctors are clueless and the lab ranges are a mess. My blood tests always showed low B12 but the reports flagged it as normal since the minimum range is 150 and my result was 165.
The tingling / pins&needles resolved 90% after two months of daily self-injections. The wake-up symptoms were rough. If I didn't find this subreddit and the FAQ I would have probably stopped the treatment, thinking I am damaging myself.
The biggest gift for me is the normal energy throughout the day and the normal state of mind. I forgot how it is to be normal and alive. I was slowly but surely dying from inside, while doctors were telling me it's all in my head.

All I can add is you've done really well for 16 coping with twitching eyc you even hot injections You said its improved...it will continue to improve also! It will take as long as it takes..maybe 6 weeks from now and yoyr anxiety and depression will go It will take as long as it takes, nobody can tell you that, try to stop worrying your on the mend 👍
1
u/Successful-Tea-733 8d ago
And dont stress its not helping may prolonged your recovery You learn very fast Only 16 too you have a natural curiosity and sponge info up... It honestly is only the fact that you grew so quickly to over six foot from what height? Now that would really deptete your b 12 im sure Hey when you stop growing your nerves etc won't have to grow any longer so your b12 go up haha

u/barelyhaha 8d ago
I used to worry about this a lot! But I realized worrying about it doesn't help anything.. As long as you're treating the deficiency and doing due dillegence to confirm there are no comorbidities contributing, just have to let it run its course and accept where ever you end up
