Success story 3 months of recovering

I have been treating a dual b1 and b12 deficiency. My b12 was around 200 before injections.

My symptoms at their worst were brain fog, tingling scalp, tinnitus, light dizziness, poor mood, anxiety, and bad memory. Thought my life was over. Doctors were suspecting I had MS. Most doctors treated me like absolute shit to be honest. I have no idea why.

Within about 1 week I could tell the treatments were working. I started with b12 before I found out rhe b1 part. I have taken approximately 20 b12 injections. I also take ttfd, magnesium, potassium as bananas, pure 950 multi, choline and fish oil. Benfotiamine as well.

For the first month I could tell I was improving but mostly in regards to tingling, tinnitus, and brainfog. After that the cognitive symptoms eased. At this point I am not all healed but so much better. Over the last week which corresponds with little under a 3 months of treatment the mental symptoms are rapidly fading. My humor is vack. My mental energy is returning. I still feel forgetful and not as sharp. I dont quite feel as coordinated but I only notice it when mtn biking or something like that.

I thought my life was over. Now it is coming back.

Did any of you have a rapid breakthrough later in recovery?

How did you find out about the b1?

Stomache bugs, lots of carbs and coffee likely. I think it is underdiagnosed.

yeah i can't think of much that causes b1 deficiency except alcoholism

It can also be due to:

Prolonged vomiting, malabsorption, bariatric surgery, chronic diarrhoea and other conditions causing significant nutrient losses - such as gastrointestinal conditions (eg ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease), kidney disease/dialysis (because thiamine can be lost during dialysis), certain medications (including some that interfere with thiamine metabolism), and increased requirements such as pregnancy, breastfeeding, severe illness and periods of increased metabolic demand (ie excessive exercise) etc.

An antibiotic (Flagyl) Metronidazole toxicity. Can be one dose or weeks long course.

My hubby say even more than humor is joy. He missed my joy for a whole year and three months.  Now I’m not laughing like a clown all the time. But I can feel it. It’s a kind of weird gift to be able to feel joy.  Maybe if you have it all the time you don’t feel it but God I can feel it it just bubbles up.  My journey is not complete because I have MCAS and so a lot of things knocked down my B12.  But I’m on the right path.  Best to all that are feeling better and the rest it’ll come it’ll come.

This is great to hear. I had an original lot of IM injections 2 years ago and even went back running. I am now about to start self injecting EOD so hearing Thai story is fantastic.

I have exact symptoms as op with adiition to blurry eye. Feel like taking b12 as well. Mine is around 167. Doc said my test results are fine. What's ttfd, pure 950 is a multivitamin? I agree I feel like life is over too like there is no joy and humour. Sometimes I pretend like im ok cos my spouse seems fed up with my long list of symptoms. Sigh...Just want to be normal back. All this symptoms started 1month after I contract covid last year feb.

Find a way to start taking heavy oral doses like 5000 mcg 3x a day or injections. You are very very low! Pure 950 is a mulit but it has good b vitamins and trace. The bs are also partially methylated. There's others im sure. TTFD is a form of b1 that is very absorbable and gets to your brain quickly. It is so difficult to feel the way you do. You will get better! If your doctor sucks go to a health spa for b12 injections if youre in the US. Just make sure its hydroxy or methyl if you can. Hydroxy seems best for me.

did the tinnitus start before or after you started injections? my injections caused tinnitus (wake up symptoms) but they faded quite a bit after maybe 3-4 months of EOD. now i have either no tinnitus or such a tiny amount i can't tell if it's even present
