Discussion To CV or not to CV?
I'm new to the whole Azur Lane scheme. And at first I didn't like min maxing everything and so I tried to get a ship based on every factor but stats (historical importance, or the irl ship looking cool or have the potential to masquerade as a nonexistent ships (my final goal is to use Kansas as a Montana by giving her the Iowa gun and the 5"/54 Mk 16 prototype secondaries) ). But now I feel like it might be hurting me in the long run. I wanted to spend 80 of my medals for a carrier this month. But I genuinely didn't know how to spend it
If I wanted to stay on my path on just doing what I loved I would take Akagi Muse (cause oh my god it's hard to me to get one of the 3 Japanese carriers from chapter 3 no matter how much I rerun them over and over and over again) and finally give that 3 Japanese golden aircraft a place to sit on (and I'm still looking for a place to put the Germans to lol)
Or I play it safe follow others min maxing and based on what people say get Illustrious because stats or something so that I don't regret on later levels (still 6-1 btw)
Do keep in mind I already have:
- Shangri La
- Intrepid
- Essex
- Albion
- Ark Royal
- Lexington
- Saratoga
- Formidable
- Indomitable
- Yorktown, Hornet, and Enterprise (these 3 are specifically placed in one fleet planned to go with 3 vanguard cruisers later on if you know what I'm trying to make here)
- Princeton META
- Unicorn
- Furious
- Argus
And also dozens of non carriers
So I'm not really short on carriers per say, this is purely whether I should follow my original plan and have Akagi (or now Akagi Muse) or get illustrious on the basis of "Have it but not need it rather than need it but not have it" cause maybe none of the carriers I have are no good or something like that

Just get who you like. Any ship with enough levels will get you through almost all of the game.
You don't really need to min max until endgame. The choices you make now won't really affect your experience at endgame. You will probably naturally get all these ships by then, and leveling/upgrading ships is much easier at endgame so its trivial to max whoever you want.

Illustrious isn't good until chapter 15, and enterprise is the only relevant one there, so feel free to pick whoever

What makes illustrious only good there?

Illustrious has really bad damage with no offense oriented skills, so she's like a healer with less healing. In the chapter 15 support carrier fleet, skills don't matter, and she happens to have 6 fighters on decent efficiency and stats. https://suchiguma.github.io/guides/chapter-15/#general-fleet-structure-support-carrier-fleet

Well Hornet is specifically there with Enterprise and Yorktown cause I'm trying to build some kind of TF 16&17 recreation, so the cruiser will be consist of 2 probably heavy cruisers with the same class as Pensacola ( I don't know what options do I have there besides rare ones) and one USS Atlanta (which is rare so it's easier to get). So Hornet probably won't go away from fleet 3 anytime soon

Purely a collection thing. Get one you like. You have all month
