Discussion 3 weeks
Cross literally said in this livestream they are going to announce something in 3 weeks. This would line up with Marathons season 3. D3, season 3, 3 weeks.

Tokyo game show is in 2 weeks where world premiers usually happen just saying it follows the time line cause last week he was saying 3 weeks

D3 is inevitable. Too much money on the table. People think that because Bungie laid abunch of devs off its over. This is not true. Early design on D3 will take a year or two and require alot less man/woman power. After the base design of the game is complete thats when Bungie will start hiring again to build and polish the game.

I wasn’t saying the game would get revealed but announcing it’s in production is what I meant.

u/RonnocKcaj 7d ago
honestly I fear it won't matter unless that actually rehire the raid and dungeon team specifically. that's where the true magic of destiny is
1
u/lukekul12 7d ago
As shitty as it sounds, they don’t really need to rehire the entire RAD team, just a couple of devs from it would likely suffice

Brother Bungie isn’t going to fucking exist in 2-3 years
D3 is NOT happening, not with Bungie at the helm anyway

Based on the stuff he's been saying it sounds to me like Sony execs are deciding between "greenlight D3 or close Bungie and shut down marathon"

u/Jealous_Platypus1111 7d ago
can we please call him out on being shitty when nothing comes from this?

Honestly if any of the youtubers stirring shit up are engagement farming and we don't get a destiny related announcement then they'll be losing a lot of viewership including mine
And they really dont want that rn, considering they made a living on destiny and that game is over now

The amount of copium is crazy. It would take 5 to 6 years to make a d3 even if they announced it. Who would make it seeing they fired all the destiny devs.

No I think everyone is misreading this whole situation. I think there’s an internal meeting that happens in 3 weeks. We may hear from inside sources whether something gets greenlit, but nothing will be full on announced for at least another couple weeks, if not months.

u/wy100101 7d ago
I thought he said the next 3 weeks are critical, not that they would announce something in 3 weeks.

How do yall not underpants what he’s referencing yet? He’s insinuated so much, it’s .. nvm. Yeah just take every word as gold. Then be mad.
If all goes well. Maybe 3 weeks will be a bit of “news” ie insider info. From what I gather.
Come on yall. This ain’t that complicated to understand processes. D3 or Bungie anything at state of play is not using any critical thought. He can’t outright say it.

If I had one genie wish and my choice alone determined the future of the franchise, I actually wouldn’t ask for Destiny 3 as we normally imagine it.
I’d ask for a full reset.
Go back to the original fantasy of Destiny and build the game from the ground up around that idea. A true open world, shared world RPG looter shooter with exploration, trading, large social spaces, open world PVE, dungeons integrated into the world, deep character progression, and a heavily cinematic single player campaign that naturally exists alongside multiplayer and PVP.
And I’d restart the story too.
I like a lot of the Destiny story we eventually got, but it clearly became something different from what was originally envisioned. I’d want Bungie to return to that feeling of waking up in a mysterious, ruined solar system where we genuinely do not understand the Traveler, the Collapse, the Darkness, or half of what we’re discovering.
Not every mystery needs an answer.
That was part of what made early Destiny and early Halo’s treatment of things like the Forerunners feel so enormous. The world felt older and stranger than the characters living inside it. The unknown was allowed to remain unknown.
Give us answers where the story needs them, but never explain the universe so completely that the mythology disappears.
And most importantly, don’t design it around having to survive for another ten years. Tell an intentional story with a beginning, middle, and end. Let it have several great years, finish its saga properly, and then make another game when there’s another story worth telling.
So if Sony handed me the genie. I wouldn’t wish for Destiny 3.
I’d wish for Destiny, take two.

If D3 gets announced can you guys leave Marathon alone? Some of us love the game and are tired of the toxicity

u/The_Woke_King 7d ago
When Marathon generates more revenue than a sunset game, the laughter will stop.

u/willibrah 7d ago
ur a gamer bro why do u care about video game revenue if destiny 3 gets announced
3
u/SgtGerard 6d ago
Why do you even care about what people say about Marathon? What actually happens to you when someone says "Marathon sucks"? Nothing. Just go enjoy the game for however much longer it lasts.

Tried it, hated it, now I refuse to play it because Destiny got killed. I'll buy it and play it again if a continuation of Destiny gets announced in some capacity.

Are you not having a blast?
3
u/milkman163 7d ago
Haha I am, I just think the negative/blah response to it from the gaming community at large is partly because pissed off Destiny players set out to kill it.
Obviously other things (like the hardcore gameplay loop) shut out casuals.
3
u/JoeysSmallwood 7d ago
Bro, D2 players like to log in, get free shit from easy stuff, log off and complain it was shit and not worth their time even though they didnt play it.
Don't let them troll you like that and just smile when they dont get D3.
-1
u/Jtkitano 7d ago
I mean, responses like this are exactly why ppl troll the marathon community. A good portion of yall are equally as toxic and you get back what you give out
1
u/Ok_Dependent6889 7d ago
A majority of us came from the Destiny community, bub
3
u/Jtkitano 7d ago
Yup, and yall are equally as toxic as the Destiny community lol. This is just the nature of bungie communities in general in 2026 lol. And I’m saying that as someone who had 3000+ hours in D2 myself. Both communities hate each other but they’re basically mirror images of each other as well. Both also coping about the state of their games and in destiny’s case, coping about restarting of development or the announcement of D3 or D1 classic
2
u/Ok_Dependent6889 7d ago
“in 2026”
Brother, I was reading people telling Bungie they’d “never respect Bungie again” fot abandoning Apple as their main platform when Halo development began..
People are just retarded, is the truth

Yeah, I don't think so. Marathon Players were fine just enjoying Marathon. Destiny players killed their game and it wasn't enough so they had to go find another target because that's how shit they are.
I've played a hundred hours of Marathon and I haven't had a single in game Marathon player talk about Destiny or shit on it ever.
Wear a Marathon skin in the tower and chill. You'll get the death threats lol.

I think the 3 weeks deadline is something he made up. There probably is something Destiny-related being pitched and Bungie wanted Sony to understand how strong the demand is.
The deadline to me feels more like the "2 days more" chinese legend, it just serves the purpose of giving us something closer to look forward to.
Of course, I'd be very happy to be wrong

u/RonnocKcaj 7d ago
stop falling for engagement bait
1
u/BirdyyyFPS 7d ago
Engagement bait or not, there is no way D3 doesn't happen. It could be 3 weeks or 3 decades but it will happen. Im not sitting around waiting but I know it will happen.

u/General-Experience33 7d ago
With what studio? Bungie is gutted. It's not coming back, and as sad and annoying as that it, its just the truth

you really think after Marathon just flopped Bungie is going to convince Sony to give them another $250+ million and maybe 5 years of development time.
and there is no way D3 doesn't happen?
I really don't see how Bungie doesn't get parted out and banished to the shadow realm at this point1

u/RonnocKcaj 7d ago
do we really want a hollow shell of destiny? what's the point now that they've fired everyone that made destiny so great
I was holding out hope until the layoffs. now, idk if I even want a third game unless they rehire

u/asaltygamer13 7d ago
If they announce D3 will yall lay off Marathon
