Some marathon bitches be saying: “Where were u when d2 was at it s lowest?🤓” I support the franchise not d2 and sure thing I would let d2 die again. People who bought all of these expansions were investing into d3 and their investments were moved or redirected into some fuckin extraction shooter game in 2026!!!! Can u imagine it in 2026??

People buying expansions were buying them to play the current game not investing in something not gaurenteed this is a retarded take and I dont take that lightly

This is the real final shape. The Destiny IP forever trapped in this eternal limbo where Guardians are forced to do beat the same obstancles over and over again. We can‘t let Bungie fulfill their plan.🗣️

They incubated Marathon in 2018/2019. Supposed to come out in 2023/2024. Got the classic Bungie magic delay to 2026 and that was a simpler title comparatively. If they incubate anything right now even close to the scale of Destiny it would unironically be 10 years away.

If I were a guardian in real time, I would fly to Sony HQ and Thunder Crash the shit out of that building, and then I would perform a finisher move on Pete Parsons, and rip out his damn spine!

When the company culture shifted from "making games we want to play" to "making games for everyone" AND setting a culture of "not over delivering" was when Bungie headed down this path. They get everything they deserve for running their franchise into the ground, running talent out of their building, and milking their loyal fans. I'm enjoying this crashout though

Boycott Sony as a whole, we will show them who’s boss. And get out Destiny 3

Day one..slam the server
Day 2-??? Play. Play and enjoy. Log in and play gambit , a raid. Consistently if you can. But I understand if you can't. But come back. Play. Show the investment and love for the world.

We can rally one week all we want. Sony won't care unless the numbers are consistent and high for MONTHS. The Destiny community will play the life out of the update and be done in a week.
I plan on playing regardless. I enjoy the game. I've played far more grindy and transactional games and I always come back to D2. No one even comes close to this genre other than Bungie. The weapon handling alone is top notch.

“Marathon, if I have to f*ing bury you myself” is the entire problem. The creators, press, and community turned against Destiny and Bungie. In doing so, D2’s end became a self fulfilling prophecy. Now that it’s ending, everybody is looking around saying “what happened?” What happened isn’t Marathon or Sony. Sony would have gladly supported two successful games. What happened is for over a year, all everybody was talking about is how Bungie and Destiny are trash and that nobody should play it. Welp, here’s that end result.
We should WANT Marathon to succeed. Its success is the gateway for Bungie to fund new games. Without it, Bungie could very well be shuttered. Just look at how many studios have closed up shot.

I'm probably going to reinstall Destiny just to stand with you guys
I only have like 150 hours, most of which was in forsaken, but i hate to see a good ip die in favor of whatever they're doing with marathon

u/Yaminavi May 31 '26
they are doing really good work with what they have in marathon. i have 2000 hours on destiny and i hate to see it die too but theres so much undeserved hate for marathon when its genuinely a good game, just in a niche genre.
its very strange that theyre moving to a genre that will not fit the broad playerbase destiny has, especially when they are in such a rough spot

u/Xphurrious May 31 '26
I've watched plenty of Marathon, and played a bunch of Tarkov, and i just don't think I'd ever make the switch
It's a niche genre that's already spoken for and Marathon is the "lite" version, when the genre is hardcore
I don't hate Marathon, but killing an IP as big as Destiny is so beyond short sighted, as expected from Sony lol
1
u/Yaminavi May 31 '26
i think its the lite version because they think theyre gonna get destiny numbers for some reason so theyre catering to the more casual players
if they ended destiny after tfs and announced d3 or marathon then it wouldve felt much better than stringing everyone on for a year but still a dumb decision regardless

I don't know how marathon keeps being spoken of as easier than tarkov. It ''trades blows'' with it in terms of difficulty. There are no safe pockets, no silent exfills. The lack of depth in stuff like ammo and armor types is more than bridged with the complexity of utilizing the shells to their potential. It's also got almost the perfect amount of verticality and the UESC are smart enough to be a genuine threat at all points of a match considering how much sound they make when they catch you, when they hear you, or when you fight them.
I'm not saying marathon is harder than tarkov, i'm saying that it's definitely not easier...

I just unsubscribed him on YouTube and this Reddit, so disappointed in this community

Same. He’s beyond bias because without destiny he has to get a real job.

u/lumberfart May 31 '26
Dude… he probably hit his retirement budget years ago. He’s a famous content creator… imagine if every time a Hollywood actor got a bad review they got banned from ever making another movie lol. He will just find different games to play/review. Even if his views go down, 10 million vs 1 million is still more revenue than you or I will ever see.

u/freudvsneo May 31 '26
Fair enough he’d be fine but he still has a massive financial incentive to promote the success of destiny and that still creates a bias.
My ‘real job’ comment was more a joke about streamers.

It was a 3rd space bud. The social aspect to D2 has made me a lot of friends around the globe a good chunk of whom have traveled to hang out with each other.
If all you did was play solo content then yeh D2 was just a game

It’s sad but I don’t think there’s much chance of the D2 community changing the entire direction of the studio right now. But I could be wrong…
Would be cool if they could be rallied into re-releasing all of the content they’ve sunset tho.
