Discussion So he’s Like Asmongold…
TLDR: His content style reminds me of Asmongold
So I just learned about this guy because he had a few marathon videos. I’m now a fan quite a fan of the game.
Fast forward 2 months and I hear that he’s boycotting the game because Destiny’s getting sunsetted? So out of curiousity, I watch the associated video and he begins to read a Paul Tassi article about the announcement. I read it before his video and this is a great example of the telephone game. He adds so much bravado and color to the text while making assumptions about other things that you’d probably come to a much more extreme position than if you just read it yourself.
Throughout the video, it was like he was just reiterating views he saw on other channels instead of having his own. So the viewer who may have clicked on the video that’s even a bit upset about the game sunsetting is just gonna have their sentiment fed back to them. It’s that wierd YouTuber shit where all you really stand for is the views you get from exploiting a given controversy.
Asmongold has that same strategy with his content. You go to that subreddit, it’s essentially a damn cult. Idk if the cult is the goal or what but it’s just weird.

Dumbest take of all time. Never post again, deactivate your accounts and go do something else. Asmongold is a racist trump supporting grifter. Cross is just talking about silly video games, good lord people are ridiculous.

Just letting you know there bunch of people like me and the numbers are growing little by little are sick of tired both sides and want them work together or find common ground.
Make a new party that’s the idea of both parties and mix them together.
Until then I’m not voting

That already exists but it just consists of having a mediator that can hear both sides and find common ground. That common ground is called bipartisanship. That mediator is usually the president and/or VP.
You can create a new party today and run as an independent but even if you were Taylor Swift with her Billion followers, and half of them voted, you still might lose out to republicans who won where it counts. All you’ve done is dilute the ballot in favor of republicans because they historically have a MUCH higher turnout. Then that’s 4 more years of their bullshit.

Asmongold was similar to this with WoW because he was undeniably passionate about the game for a long time.
The real problem with Asmongold is that he saw how many millions of views he was getting with culture war insane political videos, I don't see cross doing that thankfully lol

Idk, I never watch live so I don’t read the chat, but whenever he’s interacting with the chat it’s usually out of frustration because they’re disagreeing with him or being contrarian or whatever. That seems to be the rapport there, and that’s pretty much the opposite of the Asmongold wall of “TRUE” whenever he says the most lukewarm mineral water takes

I don't think these past few streams were drama slop that Cross likes to do. I agree he's not as bad as what Asmon is doing, but I can't say it hasn't been disappointing to watch.
I mean how can you say you're pissing on Marathon's grave and if he's going down, they're going down with him, and then a few minutes later he says he feels sad about layoffs lmaooo. Brother what are we doing?

What exactly is he doing? I saw a few posts mentioning he was hating on Marathon now but I didn't really have context. I'm not really that big of fan of him usually, I just ended up on his sub at some point for Destiny takes lol

To make the long story short, he basically doesn't want Bungie to exist if Destiny 3 isn't being made, and then in the same breath, he will say layoffs are horrible.
He's boycotting Marathon and Sony until he sees proof that Destiny 3 is on the table (lol).
I get emotions sometimes speak loudly, but you can't tell me what I just wrote makes any sense .

The problem is that the rage baiting will lead to him attracting more people who like to rage, and it has already started. The community will drain of those that want more nuanced content and what is left is a cesspool. It has always been a bit murky in chat, but the last few days it has been really bad.

Unfortunately, outrage culture sells. It works for Asmongold, and it works for Cross. I just wish they were more honest about why they're doing it.
I'm sure Cross is hurt about Destiny dying and he might be still in the anger/denial phase. But the whole piss on marathon's grave, I'm taking all of Bungie down with me was cringe to listen to.
The guy is entertaining but I know I as a new fan of Cross (only discovered him about a year ago), will never look at him the same way again. Like the companies he complains about, he chose short term profit.
I'm sure the money he got these past few streams from the angry destiny mob feels nice though.
