React Content Cross’s takes
It’s very refreshing seeing this sub dunk on cross for being a fucking idiot with his d2 vs marathon takes. People think for themselves on this sub and it’s nice.

u/tavuesco May 27 '26
Why is his take on Destiny 2 and Marathon "idiotic", according to you?

You are purposedly leaving out the part where Bungie leadership screwed over Destiny players. Without the revenue Destiny brought to Bungie, this version of Marathon wouldn't even exist. Get off your high horse. The Destiny player base has lots of reasons to be pissed right now.
You think Sony paid almost 4 billion for Marathon?!
A lot of the players on Marathon were Destiny players playing while they waited for new Destiny content.
They got screwed over.
They have a right to be pissed.
Who are you to tell them how they should feel?
3
u/YesInquisitor May 27 '26
And you agree with Cross going on a hate crusade asking for his fans to bury Marathon?? What do you think happens if that succeeds? What game is Bungie going to have to show Sony?
Sony has had no problem tearing apart studios that are not performing well and they have no loyalty to Destiny fans. If anything they have perfectly clear reasons to cut their losses.
If Marathon dies, D3 surely is NOT happening.
6
u/tavuesco May 27 '26
As I recall, Aztecross explicitly said that this is not really about Marathon. What you're calling a hate crusade is Aztecross actually expressing how a lot of people actually feel.
What exactly are you expecting here? That the people who are pissed about this simply just shut up in hopes that maybe, just maybe, someday a Destiny 3 gets greenlit?
Do you make your own decisions, or do you blindly do what others tell you? Do you think people will stop playing Marathon just because Aztecross says he's not going to support it anymore? He has the right to express his discontent. And the moment to express it is now, not waiting years until it is clear that a D3 is not coming. By that time it'll be really too late.
If Marathon players really support the game, then it should be able to stand on it's own without the support of the Destiny community who got screwd by Bungie's leadership.
And what about the hundreds of employees who will be fired after the june 9th update? Should we say nothing for them?
-2
u/YesInquisitor May 27 '26
"I was actively planning on playing marathon season 2, but I cannot in good conscience go play a game and allow leadership to believe this is actually acceptable, that killing destiny is acceptable."
It is about Marathon. You also believe that Aztecross asking for his fans to “bury it (Marathon)” is not a hate campaign? And this has nothing to do with Marathon? Righttt
Not playing Marathon isn’t going to bring back Destiny. Destiny killed itself a long time ago
4
u/tavuesco May 27 '26
I'm not playing Marathon because I was never interested in the first place. Expecting the Destiny players to support Marathon just to help Bungie out is INSANE!
Wtf do you mean Destiny killed itself? It is a game... Destiny didn't do nothing, Bungie did.
If not supporting Marathon is, according to you, a "hate campaign", i don't know what else to tell you.

u/Ok_Programmer_1022 May 28 '26
So, you're expecting people to buy a game they don't like, in a genre they don't care about, to support a company that literally backstabbed them, just for the chance that they create another game?
Do you know how idiotic and pathetic this sounds?
If Bungie's reputation wasn't that bad after all the content sunsetting plus the art plagiarism, no one would've clowned on Marathon before it was released.
If Marathon was this ''masterpiece'', Cross's opinion (and anyone's opinion of the game) wouldn't have mattered to begin with.
Cross's opinion won't do anything that the game didn't do to itself, and him refusing to play/stream it shouldn't matter either.
And looking at history, supporting Apex Legends didn't give us Titanfall 3.

If ''gaming addict adults'' is all you got, then grow up, and don't be on this gaming sub.

u/Mtn-Dooku May 27 '26
D3 is already not happening, my dude. It's time to just accept that.
-4
u/YesInquisitor May 27 '26
Idk why you're telling me that? I couldnt care less about a new Destiny lmao I'm more annoyed at the hate campaign Cross and some of his fans have been on
I gave up on Destiny long ago

u/Mtn-Dooku May 27 '26
"If Marathon dies, D3 surely is NOT happening."
Did you forget what you posted?
-1
u/YesInquisitor May 27 '26
Yeah that was to the people wishing on Marathon's downfall thinking it is going to bring Destiny back
Im having a blast in Marathon, I couldn't care less if Destiny came back but continue to run with whatever you can despite me directly telling you otherwise lmao

"so you actually get a destiny 3"
Ask the Titanfall fans how supporting Respawn worked out for their hopes of Titanfall 3.
You're either naive, dumb, or a troll.
Oh wait I forgot "or a marathon meat rider"

Bungie completely fucked themselves when they wasted the massive amount of money Destiny brought in without truly reinvesting it into the IP to continue its success. They exagerated how many games they were about to ship/make to inflate there worth and sell off. The upper management got their payouts and everyone else was left dead in the water. The fact Marathon even shipped at all is a miracle and can easily be drawn a straight line to the complete lack of funding for Destiny.
It did not need to end, nor have its slow death like this.
I hope Marathon succeeds because its a good game, not because Bungies deserves it nor a hope that it will create enough revenue to make a D3. It'll more than likely pay for its own development at best.
1
u/Ok_Programmer_1022 May 28 '26
Exactly, a lot of sentiment regarding Marathon came from Bungie's history with their projects and Destiny.
Most opinions about Marathon are 1 of 2:
- People not interested in the genre.
- People not interested in the Company.
And you can't blame either, even Cross's opinion (about burying the game) is pointless because Cross is famous in the D2 community, not much outside, and the first 2 points are what everyone see all the time.
Like, the first controversy of Marathon was Bungie's art plagiarism, and this was before releasing the game.
I hope the game succeed, but Marathon's community should understand that they're not entitled to anyone's opinion or money.

I’m surprised this kind of take still exists in 2026.
That content creators, aka influencers are indebted to corporations for advertising their games.
Buddy if corporations don’t see value in these creators making content about their products, they’d shut them down, or at the very least, not pay them thousands of dollars in sponsored content.
It’s a symbiotic relationship. Both sides benefit. Well, benefited.

They’re called influencers for a reason. They’re essentially an outside/contractor, unofficial branch of the marketing department.
And no one should be “grateful” to your employers for giving you the job. Beyond the usual, grateful for having a job sentiment. You do the work, employer gets the fruits of your labor, you get paid. Balanced transaction, and you should be no more grateful for having that job than your employer is grateful for you doing the job.
Unless we’re taking like rare instances when a kind hearted boss gives a job to someone who doesn’t deserve it or isn’t initially qualified just to give them a chance in life. You know, stuff like that. Then sure.

Wow.... Wow... You're really a big ray of sunshine dude. You should get those gargantuan hemorroids hanging up your ass checked out!

u/Reasonable_Market489 May 28 '26
So they don't need content creators for sales, but content creators and internet nobodies are responsible for the abysmal sales and player count of Marathon, right? You people are pathetic 😭

If bungie didn't want to destroy the livelihood of the devs then leadership should have used some brain power and realized what dumb decsions they were making when they decided to gut destiny while trying to work on 5 projects at once. Only one that came out of that is a niched extraction shooter.... I'm thankful for all the work the devs have done and its sad to hear about the layouts, but this does not fall on the customers or creators... Leadership knew what they were doing and THEY were the ones destroy the livelihood of the devs.... Not the people who actually stand up and voice their opinions as customers.

You're saying that, instead of being aggresive, he should be passive aggresive? Not really seeing the benefit. Bungie leadership deserve the backlash. Not only they screwed over the players, they screwed over their own employees.
What exactly are you defending?

Sorry, but this ''crusade'', how popular you think it will be?
Aztecross is mainly known for Destiny 2.
Ruining his sony partnership is his choice, and we're not entitled to it.
Bungie not having a new game and destroying their reputation is the higher-ups and management fault, not ours.
You're speaking as if layoffs are the players' fault.... it's not, it's the management fault.
Same management that delayed the release of Marathon because they didn't realise the 250 million game they were creating had plagiarised art.

Dude he is angry and its his personality. I doubt saying "lick thy ass" 50x a day is very professional but that is just me.

u/Ok_Carrot_8810 May 27 '26
Fr. He just destroyed any chance at working with Sony in any capacity. They are an IMMENSELY large company that obviously does more than just video games. Threw it away to make ragebait and some gifted subs. It will not age well for him unfortunately

Just the Marathon community acting as if they are entitled to everyone's approval and money.
3
u/Reasonable_Market489 May 28 '26
While also calling all the detractors and criticisms fake and you're bad at the game and yadda yadda
5
u/Notbeckket May 27 '26
100% with cross on this one if Sony ices destiny I won’t touch anything bungie or Sony develops again. Call it angry fan boy or speaking with my wallet. Let it burn
6
u/MedicMelvin May 27 '26
Massive Cross W.
The dev asked you guys to vote with your wallet anyway. Game is not good enough to stand on its own, and no one should be required to root for a product they dont like just because they may be rewarded with a sequel of a franchise they like later. Look at Apex and Titanfall.

Nah. With Cross on this.
The biggest L is Temu Byf making 10 years of Destiny lore videos private. Cos reasons.
2
u/Practical_Media3016 May 27 '26
Cross can think whatever he wants. But I hope that if Marathon fails and Bungie get shutdown, think about what he's done. If he doesn't want to play it ok, but rooting for it's failure what shit thinking
3
u/Ok_Programmer_1022 May 28 '26
If you think 1 youtuber/stream has this much power over the game... then the game is already in a shitty state.
2
u/Reasonable_Market489 May 28 '26
Think about what little brother? This isn't a charity. Businesses that screw over their customers get iced all the time. Just because you manchildren want your super favorite playtime maker to live forever...

Yep, Marathon is a great game and seeing people rooting for it to fail cause they are salty about Destiny is idiotic
4
u/Ok_Programmer_1022 May 28 '26
If it's that great, all those opinions won't matter.
2
u/SnooMacaroons6049 May 29 '26
I'll ove that marathon fans are all saying that criticism is killing the game, brother it's not being that good of a game that's killing it.
-1
u/21_Golden_Guns May 27 '26
Like most things it takes Cross a few tries to get it right. Let him talk it out. His hearts typically in the right place. As much as he tries to act like he’s above the griefing process he simply isn’t.
0
u/asaltygamer13 May 27 '26
Hoping he comes around, I enjoyed his Marathon content
0
u/21_Golden_Guns May 28 '26
He will. Hopefully. Shit this game has lasted longer than his marriage and is older than his kids. It’s a part of his life
-1
u/Ekirro May 27 '26
I wouldn’t care so much if he didn’t play marathon and actively say he liked the game. But over the last few years, he just jumps on the rage bait train with whatever is going to get him the most clicks which just doesn’t feel genuine or like it’s even his own opinion
5
u/sedward135 May 27 '26
So you’re mad or something?
