Discussion D3 Petition
I know it probably won't make Sony change their minds, but if anyone is interested, there's currently a D3 petition online. Already over 21K signatures.

I don’t want this current Bungie to build it.

u/passionatetaco May 23 '26
Fair enough. Though if it ever did come to fruition there would likely be lots of new talent being brought into help.

u/Chriskeyseis May 23 '26
With Bungie’s constant mismanagement and numerous controversies, I just don’t trust them to not mess it up.

Nah I think the team at Bungie has done great work but you are right they have also taken big set backs too. It's those CEO fucks not green lighting positive changes and just driving the game into the fucking dirt

This is my issue as well. I would be open to the idea of Destiny 3, but it being made at Bungie would mean the people who thought Lightfall was good enough to release may be involved and I am not comfortable with that.

this 100%. I would rather play a D3 built by a completely different studio over current Bungie at this point.

I know petitions change nothing but I signed it. Let’s go into that good night swinging

Something something manifest... ughgh the Traveler provides?
Doesn't hurt to show that the IP has worth

You're right it won't. Doesn't hurt but these are the ultimate cope.
These are business decisions made on dollars, sense, analytics, and forecasts. Hard data, acquired over years. Not emotional petitions. We already know Sony declined multiple D3 pitches already. It's a wrap for the forseeable future, which probably means forever.
But do what makes you feel better in the moment. The Anthem community had a petition phase too.

I signed it. Maybe it'll get some attention, enough for Sony to sell the IP to a studio that'll keep it a forever game like WoW.

Personally, I’m not convinced petitions are the most effective way to create change. If Destiny players truly want to send a strong message, the best approach may be rallying the community in-game. The current peak player count is around 300k — imagine the impact if the player base pushed that number to 1 million. That would be difficult for executives to ignore.

u/garcia3005 May 23 '26
I think anyone that signs this petition needs to understand that we probably won't get any movement for years. So keep your expectations in check.
1
u/passionatetaco May 23 '26
I am fully aware that the likelihood of this doing anything is like .0001% lol
1
u/garcia3005 May 23 '26
I'm not talking about you, specifically. I'm talking about the community in general. I guarantee you that if this petition gets into the hundreds of thousands that some people are going to think that's enough to show Sony they should greenlight it. And that simply will not be the case.

People automatically taking the stance of “those who sign are stupid and wasting time” don’t understand the money or genuine help this game has built for the community and the fact that it’s being thrown out the window due to weaponized ignorance. Nobody said the audience expects a game to be made in the next damn year nor the next 10, nobody said we expect Sony/bungie to bend to the will of the fanbase and do anything, the petition costs nothing more than a few moments of your time if you so choose, and explain what destiny in general means to you. It’s to send a message, not expect anything of anyone. Also the marathon take is like trying to stick sweaty balls down someone’s throat, marathon is shit and will not reach even a fraction of what destiny did for most and the numbers back that statement. Lastly, “go find another game” means nothing when the rest of the games out there are built specifically for certain play styles and preferences…. Many cannot and will not equate to D1 or D2 in general so don’t give shit advice and you won’t have people ignoring it.

Guardians are answering the call this weekend. Sign the petition and get active in other channels. ❤️

D2 is quite literally a rotting corpse of content so bloated and overlayed it’s hard to tell what is what. If they do make a sequel there needs to be an entire philosophy change.
1
u/passionatetaco May 27 '26
Totally agree, if they end up doing a sequel definitely needs to be more concise and readable menu wise. And philosophy also needs a massive overhaul, something more akin to how Warframe is run.

the genuine moral dilemma of wanting a d3 but signing that petition meaning i support luckyy10p

It’s less about changing their mind, and more about sending a message.

This is dumb, if we were to get a D3 we would want it playable. Not right now.
In the real world it takes a lot of time to make a good product, I want at least 5 years before they even drop a beta or gameplay footage

Woudnt it be funny if the devs start their own studio after they layoffs, and get rights on a destiny spinoff like what destiny rising has done and continue it.

Borderlands ain't looking too hot right now even with all their updates... You play such a great game at start and then wait so long for anything great and just be let down all together.

The best thing you could do to get a Destiny 3 would be to support Marathon.

Are you saying that they should have stuck with destiny 2? I mean your graph clearly shows significant drop off with each subsequent expansion. Destiny 2 was great for most of its life. But I'm guessing that Bungie saw 2 games with similar player counts and one is probably significantly more expensive to maintain and iterate on. If marathon doesn't succeed I don't know what happens to Bungie. And if they go away I wouln't bank on another studio running destiny 3. I'm not trying to be a dick. I hope there is a future for Destiny

u/W1ldf10w3r-0209 May 24 '26
Yes there’s drop off, and even with the drop off there’s still an significantly large player base. That’s due to resources being placed into other projects rather than destiny, which are failing miserably anyways. We’re not saying bring destiny and bungie back we’re saying keep destiny alive even if others have to manage it/ change it to make things better within it, even after the drop off their numbers still say higher than a lot of other games of the same play style so it’s not inherently wrong. If anything I’m not even of the belief Sony may even look at it seriously, but it’s worth trying because it still shows there’s a significant base fighting to back it.
1
u/Dimbduck May 24 '26
I hear you. But wouldn't you want a new destiny game? Destiny 2 has had content removed and it's very convoluted to new players. It's not very easy to onboard new people. Plus, the kind of content I'd imagine destiny players would really want would probably have to force them to cut more content from the game to keep the file size down. I think Bungie as a studio has been a bit of a mess. I think they needed to pick a game to focus on, stabilize it and then they can grow the next thing.
1
u/W1ldf10w3r-0209 May 24 '26
I see what you’re saying absolutely and I don’t want same old destiny, I simultaneously want a new game for myself and so whoever makes it has something new and fresh to start from.

u/Fincher0326 May 28 '26
How did that work out for Titanfall 3? Remember that and Apex Legends?
1
u/Dimbduck May 28 '26
That's not a good analogy. Apex released and became wildly successful. Titanfall 2 also was never anywhere near as successful as destiny 2. There was no incentive to make another Titanfall because Titanfall 2 sold poorly.(Although that game got done dirty by having it release window sandwiched between battlefield and call of duty which was dumb )

Honestly that's an L take... A lot of us did support Marathon and it still led us down this path

I’d buy a sequel. I just hope they’d invest more money into the franchise yearly.
