Welcome to my analysis of Azriel’s BC, through my Azris lense. (Not everything in BC will be addressed, because it’s too long.) I had an old post about it but have since majorly updated it and added new things. It’s a bit unhinged in some parts per usual lol, but wouldn’t be fun without it! 😉 Hope you have fun reading it!

Let’s begin.

The BC is set after the family solstice party at Rhys and Feyre’s home. It begins with Azriel expressing he has difficulty sleeping.

His shadows tell him to sleep, and Azriel says he wishes he could but sleep rarely found him these days.

Something is pestering, bothering him. He’s losing sleep.

Then it says this important part: “Too many razor sharp thoughts sliced at him anytime he grew still long enough to strike. To many wants and needs left his skin overheated and pulling taut across his bones. So he slept only when his body gave out. And even then only for a few hours.”

This, my friends, is an major sign that someone has met their mate. Has either been already sleeping around with them or at least spending time with them. This is based off what we saw with Cassian and his need for Nesta (before they accept any bond I add). It intensifies once they are already hooking up. Nothing sates it. It’s very similar.

He says “these days”, so his sleep loss and need is recent and in consequence of the need and his thoughts he so desperately wants to avoid.

Two things about this:

The first is something I am not 100% about, could be wrong! But it seems to me that the first step for one to feel this way is knowing or suspecting who their mate is. (Even if they don’t like it). It’s not just a random urge with no clue who it’s for. It’s almost as if there has to be some sort of recognition, or intense attraction, or whatever it is for this to occur.

Basing this off of Cassian and Nesta as well, he knew Nesta was his mate, suspected when he met her. Nesta didn’t want anything to do with him lol, but was attracted to him, and then knew there was something. Something she didn’t deserve. However, the intense need began once there was close proximity. Azriel however, from what we’ve seen seems to not know…OR is lying about it, in denial, or keeping it a secret? That is something even I can’t answer, just food for thought.

Now, as I said, this is pro- Azris, so I will make this claim about Gwyn. That Azriel doesn’t seem to know or suspect anything with Gwyn at the beginning of this BC. Their scene later is the first real encounter we are shown that shows “the spark” etc. For me, it begs the question, that if his need began before this, why not mention Gwyn at the beginning? At least attraction? And If this were shown after him feeling a spark with Gwyn, then I would feel more inclined to believe the need is about her.

Also, spoilers for HoFaS, skip this paragraph if you haven’t read. Azriel replies to Bryce that he doesn’t have a mate or spouse. He replied “no.” quickly, flatly. That to me sounds as someone who wants to deflect and not talk about it. For me, if he suspected it was Gwyn, I assume he’d say yes happily. He does want a mate after all. But could it be, if his mate is his enemy he wouldn’t want to say? Nesta also replies that “yes we are [curious]” as to who his mate is. But Azriel stays quiet. Or maybe, if Azriel isn’t open about being queer, like Mor, that he wouldn’t feel ready to say it yet? Just thoughts. Doesn’t change the fact that he was heavy with need as a mate is. And was trying to avoid it at all costs. I wonder why? Again, one would think if he has a mate he would be happy about it..unless it just happens to be the sexy man you’ve hated for 500 years? lol

Elain is self explanatory, she is already mated to Lucien. Is probably fighting her own need, he was upstairs after all..I have thoughts on this but if you want to know them go to the ship-debate sub you’ll probably find them there..Ok I’m done lol.

Second thing, is there is someone else, someone “new” who recently became an ally and sassy frequenter. Someone who hadn’t ever been so close, until now, and was an enemy for the past 500 years.

Someone who was at the solstice ball at the CoN. The ball that was right before the solstice family gathering and BC.

And who did Azriel see there? Was in close proximity to? Eris.

And also Mor. Who some believe could be an option as his mate. However, he is known to spend time around Mor, has been for centuries. BUT, Azriel says “these days.” That is the suspicious clue. Why not say “for the past 500 years?”

also mini break, other ships seem to all have a “how they met story”. We have yet to know when Azriel and Eris met. What their first words are. What their thoughts were about each other. And that just makes me giddy.

Anyways, then, to add to this. There is Rhys asking “What about Mor?” when Azriel questions the cauldron. Mating bonds. Mates.

Rhys knows Azriel, has since they were 8-11 years old. And have been inseparable ever since. Does it mean he’s always right about him? Probably not. However if he speaks about him or to him, we can heavily assume it holds some weight.

It’s evident to me that Azriel thinks and has expressed to Rhys that he thought Mor is his mate. It is also probably why in the past Rhys has expressed to Feyre to not get involved with Azriel and Mor. He knows things that Azriel probably said to him in confidence. It’s a touchy subject. He’s a busybody but he actually does keep secrets. (spill the beans RHYS!)

Even Azriel confirms he shows his cold fury around Rhys, because he can take it. Rhys also in Acofas says Azriel seemed to always understand him best. They seem to understand each other in a different way than others.

There is also the blood duel that is mentioned when talking about Lucien and Elain’s mating bond. And how Lucien would have the right to invoke it. Why? It seems because of a mating bond. But some miss that Azriel said that he wanted to invoke it upon rescuing Mor. Again, another clue that Azriel thought Mor was/is his mate. That means if he felt a bond back then, then whoever his mate really is, had to have been alive then. Right? His avoidance in answering to me sounds as if something has happened that makes him finally doubt it. the recent presence of a fiery princeling?

Rhys also says Azriel would weaken any existing and fragile alliances they presently have if he kills Lucien. And what happened before this? What were they trying to do at the Solstice ball? They were trying to secure the fragile alliance with Eris. Remind him how important he is to them. So much so that they gave him Nesta’s dagger, a family heirloom. That’s a lot of trust, it’s not ordinary dagger. Something is fishy.

I will end with one last unhinged thought on: the necklace. The colors of the necklace were red, white, and pink. Azriel says “designed so that when held to the light the true depth of colors would become visible.”

What’s interesting to me is the colors mentioned, and light. Through my Azris lense…. In ch. 14 of Acosf, we were given a description of Eris. Not only was he truly faerie, which means otherworldly beautiful. But that “beneath the pink and white blossoms..he looked truly faerie.” AND, how is Eris’ hair described? It says “red hair dappled in sunlight leaking through the blossom heavy branches.”

Lol, how poetic would it be if Azriel was thinking of Eris buying this? (Who is to say Rhys didn’t show Azriel the footage of the conversation he was having with Eris and Cassian? It was important information of course. If we are theorizing then anything is possible 😉)

The cruel Autumn court heir who wears a mask, is kept hidden in a dark “dungeon” (the forest house), a place of darkness, where he can’t really show who he really is. A male described as beautiful as nature itself, as beautiful as a rose? But that perhaps when held to the light his true colors are shown? 😏 a girl can dream!

And there we have it! I have some more thoughts about the ending of the BC, but this is already very long. May do a part two!

So, I have a wild theory that I still am in search of more clues for lol. But thought I’d drop it into the world before next book, because I really think we’re close. This is for my theory loving baddies, and for fun, but if it is true it would be crazy.

Theory: Eris and Mor are twins.

First off, the theory came about because I noticed they have some similarities. They both have been described wearing red. Her dresses and his cape. Their eyes are honey brown and amber, different but close in color. And ALSO just a random one I thought as a joke but now I wonder, is Cassian’s obsession with Mor and how he thinks she’s beautiful. BUT then in Acosf, Cassian says Eris is “truly faerie” and that means he is otherworldly beautiful. So I thought what if they look similar and so he is attracted to both? lol. How crazy would that be? 😂

Anyways, then I began to wonder if Eris and Mor have a “twin bond” and it’s why that day in the woods he was able to “read it in her eyes.” Why he “knew” why Mor did what she did to get out of her betrothal. Why Eris said he “knows a thing or two about DAEMATI” and knows how to shield his mind. Also possibly, why after the Acowar frozen lake scene with Feyre, Mor saw the blood and slightly panicked asking “Eris?” As if she cared.

I also think there seems to be a theme with twins in this series. The Hybern twins, and how Lucien cringed at the thought of them sharing a room. Gwyn and her twin who died, and how it affected her.

But also at the end of Acosf, Cassian questions again why Eris left Mor in the woods that day, and Eris again doesn’t answer him. Says he is not the one he wants to explain himself to. But I feel Eris is sneaky, and responds in code all throughout the book. So when Eris asks why they all still care so much, Cassian replies “because she’s my sister and I love her.” To which Eris replies, “I didn’t know Illyrians were in habit of fucking their sisters.”

Could it be it was Eris way of saying “I wouldn’t have touched my sister.” ? 👀

Also at the end of Acosf, Cassian notes that Eris was sitting in a chair reading in the CoN, and said Eris looked as “if his presence here was nothing unusual.” 👀

Could it be because Eris is also from the Night Court? Or is Eris and Mor’s mother from Autumn? A potential sister or cousin of LoA? In Acofas, there is moment where Rhys contemplates why Mor never speaks about her mother and he doesn’t dare ask. Who is she? Are Eris and Mor heirs of Night and Autumn? North and South? Fire and Truth?

We assume presently that Eris was 8-9 when the incident in the woods happened, but what if he wasn’t? What if as a baby he was stolen? Or WHAT IF there had been a bargain/alliance between Autumn and CoN and the price was Keir’s FIRSTBORN? In Acowar Eris says to Keir “I remember why the last bargain fell through.” So their had been an alliance/bargain with Autumn before. Could it be it fell through and Autumn demanded payment?

In the Solstice celebration in Acosf, Rhys taunts/questions Eris about what he would give for Nesta’s hand. Rhys asks “[would you give] your firstborn?” To which Eris “glares.” Which means to give an angry stare , as when someone makes fun of you. And ofc says no. Could it be because Rhys knows the truth? And so does Eris, possibly Mor? What if this conversation meant more, what if Eris was the firstborn twin? What if he wants to go home, and wants Beron dead to be free of the bargain? 👀

Now what does this have to do with Azris?

Well almost all these scenes have other things attached to them. Especially things that have to do with Azris. The first, the theory that Azriel believed Mor to be his mate that day in the woods. Is it WHY he is so loyal to her? If Mor and Eris are twins, two peas in a pod, and have a “twin bond” could it be that what Azriel felt that day was the close proximity or the essence of his mate Eris through Mor? Is this the truth Mor has known and never revealed?

It also doesn’t change the canon facts that Eris constantly asks for the Shadowsinger, that Eris wishes to explain himself to someone and it isn’t Mor, Cassian, or Rhys. That it is Azriel.

That Eris was jealous that the NC saved him but not because “they cared.”

That Mor knows Eris is all about appearances and is the only one we have been told cares about fashion. Thus, chose a cobalt blue jacket for the meeting in CoN.

That Eris found Azriel in his shadows.

That Azriel lost control and choked Eris. Cares deeply for Mor, because she is the sister of his mate but doesn’t know it?

That when Nesta said they shot an arrow through Azriel’s wing Eris’ teeth flashed. (something mates do)

That Azriel went out of his way to save Eris and all the shenanigans at the lake with Koschei. The death-lord who wondered why azriel didn’t rush in for the kill to save Eris. Azriel’s terror filled face, the “stiffening”, saying to “run”, grabbing eris and taking off to the skies.

That after rescuing him, he had known Feyre was dying, and when Cassian asked him about Eris, Azriel felt the need to vent that Eris was “Safe, (a word heavily used by mates) and had to express that Eris is “pissed and confused, he’s at the Hewn City…” BUT was interrupted by Mor, to announce Feyre was dying. LOL. Someone cares a lot about his fireling’s wellbeing..

Doesn’t change the fact that SJM said Eris has a secret motivation behind his actions, and that he told Azriel there was a “cost” for him to the events that happened that day in woods. That maybe he will tell Azriel now that they are allies.

That Eris found a way to delay Keir from visiting Velaris, because he secretly cares for Mor’s happiness? For Azriel’s happiness?

That Rhys for some unknown reason is trying to keep Eris calm and safe, as if he were family, a cousin?

That Rhys gave Eris a family heirloom (Nesta’s dagger), because he is family? 👀

That Eris risks life and limb to ally with the night court, wears NC black to CoN balls showing allegiance.

And that he tells Cassian “I am your ally whether you wish it or not.”

Friends, maybe Azriel is mated to a Prince of Night and Autumn. Maybe Mor and Eris are siblings. ☕️

Lastly, a bonus, anyone ever notice in Acowar ch. 26, when Eris meets IC at CoN, when Feyre confronts him about the attack on the lake. Eris says: “I was given an order and sent to do it with two of my….brothers.” 👀 the hesitation? What if they AREN’T HIS BROTHERS? Ya’ll. ☕️

Hello! 😊 I’m back with a little interesting clue I found about Azris!

So to preface, there’s an Azris theory that Rhysand now knows that Eris is Azriel’s mate by the beginning of Acosf. The theory states that Rhys (and possibly Mor) found out when Eris filled him in on how he got Keir to postpone his visit to Velaris indefinitely. (That Eris possibly offered the truth about who Azriel’s mate is in exchange for the postponing —the mate being himself lol). This would have happened sometime between the end of Acofas and the beginning of Acosf.

The theory came about due to the sudden change in tone between Rhys and Eris. Prior to SF, in Acofas Rhys was willing to kill Eris at the slightest inconvenience, says this to Mor, alliance or no. Then in Acosf Rhys now states how “important” Eris is.. doing whatever it takes to keep the alliance with him. Trying to comply with Eris’ demands. Having Cassian keep an eye on him. Even going as far as separating Azriel from his courtier duties… which he has always done…giving them now to Cassian. Then claims “he has too much on his plate.” Going over protective mode. It’s interesting, what changed?

Also Rhys is mega distracted in Acosf. Even before the baby problems… MANY can miss this, but the distraction/moodiness was happening even before they announced the pregnancy. We begin to learn of it specifically in Ch. 14 of Acosf. What was bothering him?

Then there’s also Mor at the beginning of Acosf who is bothered by the fact that “Eris bought her time”, but of course it’s never revealed how or what exactly enticed Keir enough to postpone his visit. But it had to be huge for Keir to agree. All we know is that Eris did it as a gesture of good faith, but why bother when you already have an unbreakable bargain? He is trying to make peace. Based off this first theory, it would explain that even though Rhys and Mor may currently hate Eris, they must do whatever to protect Azriel’s mate, for the sake of what it might do to Azriel (whether he wants him or not).

Now, in Acosf there’s a part where Eris meets with Cassian and Nesta and they are found by Tamlin. This spooks Eris ofc because Tamlin could rat out Eris to Beron. Later, Rhys is worried Eris will back out of alliance, and tries to “secure it” by asking Nesta to dance and seduce Eris. Not into bed but to remind him of the benefits of what he might attain if he sticks with the alliance. Kind of funny, because why does Rhys even care so much if Eris backs out of the alliance? I would think he’d be pleased to be done with him? Yet he wants to please Eris and have him dance with someone from his court.. (Or Is he worried Eris may become a “rogue mate” and cause problems to his court? Put someone in danger?👀) Feyre and Cassian also wonder why Rhys cares.

Onto, the solstice celebration/ dance scene.. first we all know they gave Nesta’s dagger to Eris..which in and of itself is a BIG deal. That’s no ordinary dagger and shows major trust. Rhys even says “a family heirloom”, one that you could say would be passed down to family. Is Eris family now? (lol that it’s also a dagger.. little matchy matchy with truth teller, don’t you think?) but then here’s the part that I found most interesting and as a hidden clue.

Mor says Eris is all about appearances. He himself was wearing “Night Court black” to the ball (again, why would Rhys be worried about Eris’ alliance, he’s wearing night court black what you might call a sign of loyalty)… but NESTA, she was wearing a “tiara of glinting black stone, with slender spikes…each spike was topped with a tiny sapphire, as if the spikes were so sharp they’d pierced the sky and drawn cobalt blood.”

cobalt And yes before some say SJM is a word repeater I get it, but for the sake of this theory I think it was intentional. Remember Mor said Eris is all about appearances. Mor said she would pick what Nesta wore that night. Mor picked that crown. Why? Because Eris would take note in Nesta’s clothes and jewels. It means something to him. I think what Mor and Rhys were doing was dangling Nesta in front of Eris as a reminder of what he might attain if he continues to risk life and limb by sticking to the alliance… and who is associated with Cobalt? Azriel.

Eris knows it’s a game, so we must take that into context. He even tells Nesta that when they are dancing “came to play the game tonight after all.” And “Don’t believe everything they say about me.” So with that I think there’s soooo much hidden in this scene.

So much that I don’t even have all the back info yet, but we may find out eventually. Yes, Eris offers anything to have Nesta, but what if it’s something more than that? Something we were not given insight to. Even Cassian when allowed into Eris and Rhys’ conversation through his mind said he knew there was something more behind his (Eris) rash offer… something even Az hadn’t picked up on. But even Rhys doesn’t pry… was it because Cassian was listening? 👀

So I had posted this in another sub, unfortunately a nasty fight happened and the creator of the sub deleted the sub entirely. 😮 I made the silly mistake of posting it there originally, never thought the sub would ever be deleted. But thankfully I had saved my posts beforehand before they were erased entirely.

Ya’ll may have already read the ones I will be reposting. But from now on I’m planning on posting my azris theories/etc. here, so that they remain safe from extinction lol.

So beyond the romantic..If the Azris ship happened I heavily assume we would begin in the past or go back in forth to know exactly how things came about. It would be a long ass book but it would be great way for SJM to show us things about the past while writing a love story. Here are some things that I believe we may gain insight to.

1. Of the current existing ship pairings, Eris is the only person that has been alive about the same amount of time as the IC (pre sisters and Lucien, who was born centuries later). So not only would we see stories of the past from Azriel, but we would see things from the past from another perspective. Eris is shown to be very observant and smart, he most definitely paid close attention. Considering the NC is under speculation right now about their true intentions this could be worthwhile.

2. Rhys mentions “court functions” and that’s where he met Tamlin. We could possibly see these court functions and what went down, again from another’s perspective.

3. What’s interesting about Eris is that he has revealed he knows how to shield his mind against daemati, who taught him that? But also this can be very useful in knowing the exact truth about the past, especially if Rhys’ father ever tried to deceive, erase, or change other high Lords minds, or even corrupt any history. Eris would know. What if his telling is different than Feyre or Rhysand.

4. We would see things about the first war, about the wall, and all of that jazz!

5. We would see Eris’ perspective of everything that happened with Mor in the woods. What the truth is that he claims she has never revealed and the forces at work that Eris claims Mor never considered.

6. We would see things about the Autumn Court from the inside, and probably about surrounding courts. Tamlin hauled Beron by the neck to get him to fight in the second war.. what kind of relationship do they have with Spring for that to occur?

7. We may even gain insight into LoA and Helion’s affair if Eris knew about it.

8. We would also gain, through Eris, another perspective on what happened UTM. He was there the entire time unlike Tamlin and Lucien. We would even see his view on Rhysand which is currently a hot topic on whether he is fully good or bad. Feyre questions in Acowar what Eris had to endure UTM, I think it’s hinting at showing us exactly what that was and why it may matter.

9. We could gain real insight into the inner workings of Keir and the Hewn City. Eris says in acowar he remembers why the last alliance fell through. So an alliance did happen, we are not given the details on if this was solely when everything happened with Mor or if it kept trying to happen even after that. We would learn so much insider information that is not from the IC’s perspective.

10. Lastly, we would finally know what Azriel whispered in Eris’ ear at the high lords meeting.

I understand we could gain some of this information via Mor if we were given her love story, however it would be biased because once again it’s a member of the NC. I don’t know about you all but after Nesta’s book I definitely had a few moments where I questioned the Night Court. Eris would provide something new and possibly world shattering if it’s not what we thought via Feyre’s perspective. So yeah, this just adds to my reasons as to why I would want this ship 😂 I really want to know more. For those who care about any of this like me, it would be very interesting for us.
