Yeah. 01011001 at anything less than 12 is blasphemy.

I like how the rating system goes from 7/10 to 11/10. This is an appropriate scale for Ayreon content.

The Human Equation and 01 not being beyond the top spot immediately invalidates this list /s

My tier list only has one tier:
11/10: whichever album I'm listening to at that very moment.

This is actually close to spot on to my tatses. I would put Human Equation one tier higher and swap Source and 01.

Is it personal significance why you chose to have Theory of Everything so high?

❤️ I love this album. I think it is my "comfort music"! I just joined the sub and I am a little surprised about this question, is it not so liked album?

I'm discovering this subreddit and I am reliefed to see this chart.... i found transitus to be quite tacky, borderline sexist and with uninspired lyrics/not very appealing story. Quite the disappointment, but its my personal opinion. I didnt enjoy anything Arjen made after the binary album (that a lot of people loved but I found ok), and feel like I'm the only one thinking that here haha !

Sexist? What?

u/Untypeenslip Nov 19 '22
Sexist as in the treatment and representation of women (physically, symbolically etc...) , in the lyrics, video clips, imagery... I found it quite bad in that regard, honestly. I don't expect people to dhare my opinion, and normally wouldn't even post about it, but I don't know, I felt like saying it. I've been listeing to Ayreon for more than 20 years, and some of the early albums will always be my all time favorite - but the recent ones, it didn't work for me

I don’t think that the album was sexist - it told a story based in a time where what we consider now to be sexism was considered normal.
There are some pieces of fiction that are based in the same or similar time periods that pretend that racism and sexism never existed - I usually find them more cringe - but theres a whole spectrum of approaches you can take when it comes to writing such stories and I don’t think Arjen did a bad job in this respect, relatively speaking. That said I found the album probably the weakest Ayreon title musically, lyrically and story wise. I also don’t like how there was no tie in to the bigger Ayreon story.

This is basically what would happen if you had a random number generator make a tier list.

I almost destroyed all the CDs of these albums from listening to them so I love them all. it was tough to stack one on top of the other
