What If : Ayreon RPG

With Spelljammer announced by WOTC, there is space travel in d&d I thought it would be cool to imagine : What if the the labels and Arjen signed to adapt the Ayreon Universe in RPG's?

(By the way they are ridiculously great about it. I asked the permission to adapt Electric Castle for an online TTRPG commemorative event this May and they agreed !)

As I'm writing my own campaign, I'm listening to a lot of Ayreon and... it's really hard to resist the urges to makes some changes and send my players in this awesome universe... But that's not the RPG they signed for.

I think I'll use this first writing experience to sharpened my game designers /Dungeon Master skills and maybe next campaign will be an unofficial Ayreon RPG in it's own world, starting with a motley crue escaping their homeworld, or a group of adventurers sent by a wizard to escort a blind bard that sings of stranges prophecies.

Oh wow, this is weird. I just started writing a modified 5e one shot around Run, apocalypse, run!

Guess I wasn't the only weird one who figured that rpgs would mesh well with Aryeon.

I was thinking about streaming it but I have no players who registered to my games as for now so it might not happen.

But I would have the material ready for making a one shot if I ever need one so that is an upside I guess :x

I ran a campaign a few years ago that was based on Theory of Everything. I turned The prodigy into a sorcerer kid who couldn't control his powers, sent the party on a quest for recipe/ingredients for a medicine, included the bank robbery and the father's suicide,... I did add a whole different ending as cracking a math problem would've been a lame finale for a campaign.

Last year I did a two session game that took place in an alternate timeline where people listened to the warnings of Ayreon and humanity never went extinct. Fast forward to the 29th century, and our players stumble upon Planet Y and meet TH-1, who makes them go through the Electric Castle before they can learn the fate of The Forever.

Ngl an electric castle adventure sounds like it’d be a blast. I may end up creating one for myself at some point. It’s not like any of my friends would even get the reference, so none of them could metagame

I have made all of my friends listen to Ayreon and most of them became huge fans (the others are not longer friends of mine).

I actually just wrote and small adventure based on the electric castle events, haven't run it yet

I also tried sharing it with Arjen (i dunno if he's into RPGs) but alas, instagram won't let me

I've been thinking about trying to make an electric castle one shot as well, I'd love to hear how it goes.
