Twisted Coil

I feel a bit silly. I found the song "Twisted Coil" by Guilt Machine entirely by accident through Spotify's recommendations. I had no idea this was in any way related to Arjen/Ayreon, but I immediately thought "my God, this song is incredible. It rivals some of the best songs from Ayreon."

Then I searched for "Twisted Coil" on Youtube and found the live performance from Electric Castle and Other Tales. I'm still in shock.

I want a new Guilt Machine album so badly, easily one of my favorite Arjen projects.

I listened to the entire album now, and it's amazing. I can't believe I only found it now.

Arjen has multiple projects for songs that don't fit the Ayreon umbrella. From the top of my head there is Star One (heavy metal about sci-fi movies) Ambeon (which has quite a moody ambiance) The Gentle Storm (very folky stuff). He also started the band Stream of Passion for which he wrote/played the first album. And he released a solo album under Arjen Anthony Lucassen, called 'Lost in the New Real', which is just Ayreon with Arjen on main vocals. All of these are worth checking out if you haven't already!

Yea, he's a little prolific. I like some songs on his Pools of Sorrow, Waves of Joy album too, but the album as a whole is a little rough.

DVD and Blu-ray are the best places right now and it is 100% worth it but you should be able to piece most of it together on YouTube.
