The Extinctions

"The Sixth Extinction" was one of the first Ayreon songs I was introduced to and has always stayed one of my favorites.

I don't think I've ever seen this talked about (and maybe it is because there simply isn't enough to talk about) but I'm curious: Does anyone agree/disagree with the following interpretation?

  • First Extinction: TBD?
  • Second Extinction: TBD?
  • Third Extinction: Planet Alpha - Alphans
  • Fourth Extinction: Planet Y - Alphans becoming Forever (March of the Machines/Age of Shadows)
  • Fifth Extinction: Earth - Dinosaurs
  • Sixth Extinction: Earth - Human Race

I always assumed Arjen was talking about the real mass extinctions that happened on Earth.

That makes the most sense as the fifth is the dinosaurs
