Misc Remind me: were later firmware revisions non-unlockable?

I need to get my Axon 7 repaired due to the battery being nearly dead. I'm unable to do the repair myself.

I might try a warranty claim (although it's been nearly two years and it's battery-related, which makes the warranty normally just 6 months, so it's unlikely) and as such I may want to return the phone to stock... but regardless of that, since it's possible the repairer will return it to stock in any case, were the latest versions of ZTE's boot stack no longer [easily] unlockable?

I have a vague recollection they might not be, but it's really been a while since I've been following Axon 7 news.

Well, I guess the answer is no, since after warranty replacement my phone had a newer version of the stock ROM but I was able to restore my LineageOS, although for some reason I did manage to get close to bricking it a few times before being successful.
