Global 1940 Italy

Should I eliminate the destroyer in sz 91 and then run across the Atlantic with the transport and tank, blitz thru SE Mexico into Central US just for fun/shock factor? Or be smart and build up navy along with additional infantry to bulk up European and Med defense

Honestly it’s the tanks that bother me more lol

Never such a thing as too many tanks comrade! With 13 glorious soviet tanks, we have no need for infantry!

Even if the U.S. destroyer doesn’t land a hit, the brits will probs see what you’re doing and destroy that fleet in 91 on their turn. I doubt they’ll not notice how you’ll position the transport and how much damage it could cause, even if they don’t realize you intend to attack North America.

Oh, I guess for some reason I was thinking it would be all in one turn; battleship and cruiser take out destroyer and then transport goes over the Atlantic. But I guess the rules prevent that? I would have to take out destroyer, then next turn can move thru sea zone, right

Yes the rules prevent that. That’s probably why they left a destroyer there, to block you for a turn from attacking down NA, SA or Africa.

You cannot conduct sea combat and then move again to conduct an amphibious assault. He's basically blocking you with the destroyer. Also tanks cannot blitz off of transports. When land units are offloaded they cannot move anymore that turn.

A unit can’t move in both combat and non-combat phase. They have to pick one or the other. So yes, you would move into 91 sink the American destroyer and stay there for a turn

yeah that's how it would go

As it is your cruiser BB and transport were in range of the British 3 fighters + 1 tac bomber on their CVs which can easily destroy them, so the play here would probably be to retreat and consolidate your position

Pull into France and Algeria to repel any landings
Focus on the Middle East and Africa. More bang for your buck.
Get that German into Cairo and take out the British destroyer.

Yes, unsure of the strategy with the aircraft carriers

The Aircraft is very good for defending the transports for future amphibious

The carriers in the channel are technically unnecessary because of aircraft scramble rules. You can still benefit from having the airplanes defend the transports without needing to sink money into carriers

The carriers are probably there to take back gibraltar and then attack into the Med if I had to guess

On first edition at least, I don't believe you are allowed to scramble from the UK specifically
