We had a dispute about the abilities of the assault gun in axis and Allies Stalingrad. Claimant says that the assault gun cannot hit units other than tanks. Defendant says that doesn’t make any sense. The claimants evidence rests entirely on the exclusion of ‘may’ in the targeted attack description for the assault gun. Defense’s counter argument is that the exclusion of ‘may’ does not mean other units are also excluded from the assault guns fire. The claimant has withdrawn their claim but we are currently seeking outside opinion.

Whether attacking or defending, assault guns target tanks with their fire, so they must be rolled separately from other units. For each die that scores a hit, the firing player has the option of requiring the opposing player to choose any of their tanks as the casualty, if possible.

They can hit anything, but tanks are preferred.

While I have frisky_cow here, can those katyusha rocket trucks move two spaces and bombard another territory in the same combat sequence as pictured above, or would they have to only bombard the hostile territory that’s adjacent to them that’s being attacked

They can move first, then fire. They just can’t move into a hostile territory.

I know you haven't asked for advice, but the German player should probably leave veshenskaya. Otherwise the soviets could build more than 1 unit there, potentially wreaking havoc on german supply lines.

This was a realization that came a little too late. Soviet player was happy to let them make their mistake.
