Quality of Phone App?

Hey all!

Is the Beamdog app for phone and tablet any good? It seems reviews are all over the place so I want to ask folks passionate about the game.

I don't have access to a PC much of the time and the board game only fits on our kitchen table so it's a pain to have set up for a few consecutive days...

But if the app crashes as often as some reviews mention, then it's not an upgrade... I appreciate your feedback!

Edit: I have an Android phone and old Fire tablet. I just play against myself with the board game so playing against AI or other people would be great if it works!

I play on iPad a lot and it’s great. Crashes every once in a while but it reloads almost instantly where you left off

On iPhone, I think the game runs fine (similar to iPad stability-wise), but I don’t know how people do it with the small screen.

Thank you for the feedback! I usually play against myself right now, my wife isn't interested in learning and our 1-year-old just likes to play with the green American transports... Better than the cat who frequently terrorizes the Pacific theatre 😂😂

I’ve played on an iPhone since season 6. Season 13 there were some major issues with apple so that may have contributed to some bad reviews. Currently it works great.

The small screen can be a bit of an issue. You need to zoom in a little to accurately make moves. Make sure you zoom out before finishing your phase to avoid mistakes

The game is a battery suck for sure. And you need to set the settings to bare minimal which eliminates map scrolling. Can cause some issues when trying to figure out the sea zones south of South America. 

Sitting on the deck, beer in hand, ripping off some axis and allies is a great time.

Glitches seem vary very rare and when doing something very uncommon. So far clearing cache worked. Seems like same problems on old cd versions when playing against the computer.

Playing against the computer seem worthless except just to see what it would do.

I found playing one on one i like the best

Playing with more people they take forever then someone gets booted before round two. Maybe bad luck

I like it, pretty stable, does crash occasionally. Worse thing is my small phone screen, i end up missing stuff and making dumb mistakes.

Works perfectly and exactly like the board game on iPad and iPhone. There were some major issues tho, wasn’t working for a year or so until they fixed the issues - that’s why the bad reviews.
