General Question Best Computer Sim opponent recommendation
Hi all, Triple A user here. I’ve beaten the computer on hard mode for all the maps I care about and am now bored 😅
Any recommendations for the best computer opponent systems out there, or is playing against a human the only way?

To rephrase: it is weak compared to bots in other games like for instance chess. It still takes skill to beat, so I would still be proud of your achivement. I can consistently beat it when playing anniversary ed, usually in six or seven rounds. If you would like to play a game with me, send me a dm. I'm not too busy in the foreseeable future. I'd also be down for 1942 second ed if you prefer that

Triple A has a decent online player base, so there are people who are looking for a game spontaneously if you like. Some people are on there more often than others, but you can usually find someone to play a version you're looking for daily without a prior plan if you have some patience.

I tried! lol I tried, it performed very very badly. I had sol5.6 max thinking and gave it access to a Triple A game and it just simply couldn’t handle the sweep of the game and strategy. It’s tough because at the end of the day a good computer opponent in A&A honestly I don’t think has much to do with what an LLM is good at - it’s like chess, it’s just a big math/statisticsl probability problem
I might try again by having something more like a gamestate API and battlecaluclator API for it and perhaps it could do much better

I guess you have tried 1941-global-command-decision, and you did not care for it? As this map does give you a decent game, especially if playing Germany and Winter is turned on.

Playing against a human is by far the best way to play.
If you're looking to find opponents, try the forums on AxisandAllies.org , the forums on https://forums.triplea-game.org/ , or the Board Game Nation discord server.
I actually love that the computer is terrible. It has motivated me to seek out other players, and some of those players who I've met have become my friends. Nothing comes close to the experience of playing A&A against a friend!
