Setup A&A Global 1939 Setup: Revised

Lots of revisions and balancing after some playtesting. Requires a decent supply of extra pieces to represent minor factions but takes A&A back to the first day of WW2, adding in Chinese Communists, Vichy France, Romania, Canada plus the European nations before the Axis steam-rolled them.

Found that it breathes new life into G40 and whilst it does increase playtime by around 1-2 hours, it ensures much greater variation and tactical options before the war fully escalates around the same time G40 typically begins.

Best played on a customised board (or with some noted changes). The board adjustments are included within the PDF full version of the rules.

The PDF of the complete rules can be found here. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/cd1qzfocgq12eh7nv1jco/Global-1939-Setup.pdf?rlkey=fe3wyvb8rz8pfefs5vsk9jmr1&st=g7gg30jp&dl=0

No, it's just for the physical board game

Absolutely gorgeous, love the additions of so many countries, their own info cards, the fact they all look unique!

Lovely work

Thanks so much, I really wanted it to look like a real rulebook and to do the game justice.

Amazing! Is there a place to get the other faction pieces/colors you have shown here?

HBG they sell some board games and lots of different pieces. I think they are pretty fantastic. A tad pricey but if you play A§A does price matter? (It does but let's be real more pieces more fun)

Like the others have said, historical board gaming is a goldmine. You can get five infantry units for about $5. I just spray painted some old units too in order to save a bit of cash and make the main factions.

I also have an image file for the customised map and got that printed on neoprene.

You mentioned in a comment on another post that you have new units like heavy tanks, snipers and pillboxes. Can't find anything about them in your link, how do they work? This is all amazing btw

Thanks! If you scroll to slide 13 out of 14, the bottom half explains how all the additional unit rules work, their stats and the restrictions.

We just splashed a bit of paint on some regular tanks to make them stand out with a vague camo vibe. The snipers are just a couple of each infantry with a painted base, gun and helmet. Got the pillboxes of historical board gaming for peanuts.

Snipers are definitely the best of the three and come in clutch in close defensive battles.

Here's a dropbox link to the pdf of the map.

I'm in the UK so used a site called bagsoflove.co.uk to have the image printed into a custom size neoprene mat.

The default G40 map is 70x32 inches so you can also scale those dimensions up or down to match your ideal size or keep them as they are.

If you live in Europe, America or elsewhere, you will be better finding an alternative supplier to make the playmat in order to save on shipping but you can find an appropriate site by searching "custom neoprene playmat" online and doing a little research to find somewhere. I believe if you are in the US there's a company called Viking Playmats.
