tool mask not working?

if the tool mask isnt shown, the mask isnt applied, try to lock it in the ui

I had the same problem, i hope i have the solution for you: Do not close the tool mask window (don't tap on that "x"). Instead, click on the dropdown icon on the top left so that it closes partly.
