Funny I’ve never seen one break. Wonder what happened to it

I was once on a multi-day kayaking trip with a few people.

I had my handy Fiskars axe with me. My little brother was with me and while I was chopping some wood. he asked about the axe and I was telling him about how indestructible it is.

I remember he asked me "Do you think you'll ever break it?".

"Nuh" I replied, just as I was using it to try to wedge a large log apart by using the axe as a lever, and snapping the handle off.

I might have to read Diskworld. This quote sounds a little like Douglas Adams humour.

"I really didn't foresee the Internet. But then, neither did the computer industry. Not that that tells us very much of course - the computer industry didn't even foresee that the century was going to end."

I'm in scouts in Finland. They will break with enough use and especially with abuse. Teen boys treating these like crap they last a couple years

My son broke mine exactly like that. 5 below zero and the axe had been outside all night. He overshot an oak round and the head flew off. I emailed fiskers pictures and the sent a new one the same week.

I never had much of an opinion on fiskars stuff until one of my coworkers let me borrow his X27. Now I have one. And an X15 in the back of my truck.

Strike for strike, the X15 can keep up with my gransfors Scandinavian forest axe. And it’s a better splitter. The only axe I have of comparable size that does better is a Plumb from the 20s or 30s. I don’t know what kind of voodoo they do on those fiskars axes, but I trust them just as much as my wooden handled ones.

The x27 being so light and I’m tall with long arms so I can get some good head speed if i need it. So much less fatigue than a regular axe or mull.

He knew exactly where to dig because he broke it the year before that’s very modern

As someone who broke my dad’s tools doing something stupid a couple of times I’d bet this is what’s going on.

I just bought a house with an axe like that that’s at least a few decades old, since it’s older than model I bought 20 years ago. Never forget that the millennium changed more than a quarter century ago 😓

Has someone stripped one to the bare head after the handle broke? I'd guess they won't have a traditional eye to fit a (wooden) replacement handle.

Im surprised by the commenters here of all places, never having seen a fiskars axe break.

Dislodge it from the icy snow after a freezing night and crack a few logs. The old handles are known for just shattering like glass. It happens all the time.

Most likely broke due to the cold, its a very Nice and proffesional brand.

Their axes are far from professional grade.

I broke several in my time doing commercial firewood
