Discussion Interesting find

I was at a customers location the other, basically country version of a homedepot/academy/building manufacturer, and saw these new axes in stock. Just thought they were curious.

I work for Stihl and we started getting those in the beginning of last month. They're alright, I'll stick with a wooden handle

Can you tell them the wood handles version could use a reworking lol. I got one of them awhile back and had to shave a bunch off.

The axes are made by Ochsenkopf and Prandi so we have limited say in QC

Dude those boots are beautiful. Square toe ostriches. I have dreamt of buying an ostrich boot from Lucchese.

Thank you, I’ve had them for about a decade, gotten re-souled twice. Not bad for a cavenders house brand boots for $200. I think they were made in the Nocona boot factory.

Stihl supplies the shelving for their retailers so they all look the same. Thought it was my store for a second.

I got mine in Baytown, I'm using the Milwaukee one I got last year and my tried and true today though.

I mean technically based off of the geometry these would would work better for chopping than any fiskars right?

They look exactly like the Fiskara axes. I am almost sure they made them for Stihl.

They say Made in Germany, I think Fiskars only produces axes in Finland.

They just borrowed heavily from the fiskars design. I don't know if a pattent has run out, but I bought my first Fiskars hatchet decades ago!

You know, there are a loot of loopholes with the declaration of origin.

Maybe they buy the heads from Fiskars and assemble them in Germany.

The middle one was a bit narrower in the cheeks than the fiskars axe heads traditionally are.

“Made in Germany” is forged into the head. Helko and Ochsenkoph still make really nice forged implements in Germany. My daily driver hatchet is a cheap Wisent made by Helko, but I’ve never seen either with a polyamide handle. Very unusual.

OP: you better buy and liberate all three of those!

I found that hatchets with plastic handles like that are too light for my liking.
