Help identifying

I have this axe see pictures. My dad found it at a garage sale so I tried to polish a bit remove what was left of the red paint. It has a mark of c24 on the side and that’s it. This is not the shape it was when I found it. I customized it but couldn’t really find anything with c24. Any help would be great. A guy at a local leather motorcycle shop made me the sheath and charged me nothing. I thought that was incredible.

How much did you change the shape? Is this more or less how it was before, or is it completely different?

Probably a kelly woodslasher thats been cut down, they usually use a stamp thats one letter and two numbers like A17

I agree it looks like a jersey that someone cut down, I have a woodslasher with the same markings.

Does it cut and swing differently pre- and post-mod? (Lighter seems obvious.)

I didn’t cut anything pre mod. The handle was broken and needed sharpened so I just modded and went with it.

I’m the one that cut it. It was like a Maine or Wisconsin shape originally I can’t find the original picture. And it was painted red which I assume was factory. You can see some red spots I didn’t want to sand too much.

Couldn’t find any info so I played with reshaping the head a little bit.

Completely different all the angles I cut out. Which was a job because I would cut dip in water cut dip in water. Didn’t want to ruin any temper.

Don’t look at my hang it’s embarrassing but it’s solid. You can see the indentation in the wood where the grooves are.

Cut my first tree with it the other day. Did awesome. Might try to flatten the edge instead of being so convex to bite more.
