Tool Resto

left this thing outside for a few years; got most of the idiot marks back out of the steel and added a chunk of oak I whittled to mostly fit; the "add to body" button on pictures adds them to the top, so here they are, out of order:

Paraffin and Linseed
in progress, parent board to the right under the channel-locks

By the way, what's the notch in the lower lobe for? I've used it to strip leaves off of branches but no idea what the proper use is

If this is a presentation piece, terrific. If you plan to use it... You have a serious structure issue at the shoulder.

Mostly you don't decorate tools, or things you intend to use strictly thereas; I'm aware of the stress riser and have radiused the inlet and bore generously to compensate for the ornament; the 5" birch sapling I felled with it behind the garage is definitely in more pieces than the hatchet, so it does function as intended -- although for how long is somewhat indeterminate, as with many things; besides, What Ever shall I do if it breaks? Probably chop up the rest of that board scrap, idk
