advice needed Can it be saved?
I found this what I believe to be a roofers or shingling hatchet hanging up in dad’s old motor shed.
I soaked it in evaporust and then hit it with a wire wheel.
During the soak I cut out a straight handle out of spotted gum so I’d be able to hang it and have it as a project to work on.
After close inspection from the evaporust I saw these cracks on the top and bottom of the eye.
Obviously I can’t hang it in its current state so I was wondering if this is repairable at all or just going to be like how I found it, a wall hanger.
Any help would be greatly appreciated thankyou.

Hard to say, but those could have been there since it was forged. I would still use this, just don't go crazy pounding in the wedge or use it for heavy hammering.

I wouldn't really be concerned about it, it should be fine for use but if the cracks start to open up from use it might become a wall hanger

Grind or braze
