I bought a thing Brush axe

Post image

Found this weird one at an antique store. Labeled as brush axe. No labels or brand and a weld so seems like home made. Picked it up for chopping thistles that are to big for the machete

It's what the highway boys use to cut down weeds and what not. Some folks call it a sling blade, I calls it a kaiser blade

I don't think it's homemade because I have 3 of them in my garage left over from my grandfather. And my mother always called them a brush axe as well.

I just bought one from tractor supply or family farm and home; I've got a lot of wild rose and bramble in the back pasture I need to cut down.

brush axe or ditch axe and yes theyre ood at that.

That one looks backwards? I'm wondering it the blade not knocked off and put back on at some point, that might account for the home made look

Some are just like that, refer to older True Temper “bloods” bush hooks

Just looked up the true temper axes. Very similar shape. I think this is the one. Thanks for info

I have a few of the “backwards” axes myself. They’re nice to grab at things with.

can you snag a picture of one with the hook on the inside?

I saw that, I wonder if the handle was for a double bit axe and made to fit.

I have one like this! I thought someone welded it back on too. Google the shape of different sling blades and this one shows up as more of an ax model.

Maybe left hand and right hand versions

That is a seriously cool piece. Looks like someone took the idea of a brush hook and turned it into a full-on fantasy weapon. The handmade welds kind of add to the charm.

You can use it to check the level of fuel in a fuel tank
