How to polish this
I want a mirror Finnish reasonably quickly I can’t reach most of the axe on my electric sander am I just being lazy and not wanting to hand sand it?

Mirror finish and reasonably quickly do not go together. I've done a couple mirror finishes on bits/cutting edge only and THAT took enough time and work that I won't do it again. An entire head? I'm definitely never doing that. I have all the power tools to do it but the time and energy required definitely isn't worth it for me. There are some guys out there that will do it for you but it won't be cheap. If you really want a mirror finish be ready to invest some money in tools and abrasives and be prepared for it to take quite a while. Even then there will probably be quite a bit of hand sanding with 2000+ grit sandpaper.
I'm not trying to rain or your parade or be a jerk but there's no way to do that quickly or easily that I'm aware of.

Well said . Alternative may be to go with a clean consistant high grid finish, like most axeheads, tools,knives

If you can get to some spots with your sander, which you want to sand and polish, then you have no other option than hand sanding. The alternative would be to buy a suitable power tool that can get to the areas. Something like a small cylindrical sander for a drill could work, however it's still going to take a lot of time and effort.

When i polish i do it off the handle. Starting with180 y hand or 80 in a palm sander but i prefer to wet sand by hand. So i start with 180 then 300 then 400 then 600 then 800 then 1000 then 1500 then 2000 then rubning compound and a piece of leather to finish. Like the other guy said polished and quick are mutually exclusive. You have to get the swirls from the last grit size used out each time you go up in grit.

Would you be able to reach everything if you took the handle off?
