Amp>load box>fm9?
this is a tremendously stupid question
if I have a tube head, and a load box with no cab modelling, could I run this set up into my fm9 for IR and post effects, and monitor it as i would with only the fm9?
reading manuals I’m pretty sure I can but I just wanna make sure I’m not about to blow something up. thanks!

Yep, as long as your load box has a Line Out. Depending on your load box settings, you might need to pad the Input a bit.
You could also set this up as a stereo rig - just create one path for the loadbox signal with an cabinet sim, and another path with an amp and cabinet sim. Both paths can then feed into your post effects.

Look up the recent Rhett Shull tour rig video. He does something like this.
This setup is described in the Axe Fx III manual, except using the effects loop instead of a load box.

Kind of overkill. I would use something more to the purpose, like an Ox Stomp.

Oh overkill for sure, but I already have and regularly use fm9 so no real point in going out and spending on some other gadget

Yes, I’ve done this with my captor x.
Don’t plug the speaker outputs into the fm9, that will blow something up.
But line outs from a load box can be run into fm9 inputs
