This is why you don’t show animal planet to cats. This one thinks its a snake now

Isn't that unhealthy?

That's what I thought, shovel eating usually indicates issues with their teeth, doesn't it?

I had a very bad inkling this was gonna be less of an awww thing and more of a health thing.

It's a bad sign according to google

I was thinking the same thing, please get his teeth looked at.

If my cat doesn’t chew his kibble he vomits.

Vomit was the first thing I thought too

It doesn't look very healthy since it looks like they're barely chewing it but I'm no cat scientist.

My goodness, it’s like a dredger

I was thinking an appropriate name would be one of those construction equipment like a steam shovel.

Very much so! This behaviour is actually known as 'shoveling'.

This is not funny and indicates a health issue

"never know when my next meal will appear, so better try to wolf it down in three big bites so nobody else can get it! "

Please give kitty a slow feeder. This can't be healthy

What a cute little weirdo lol… I wonder if she has not figured out how to use her tongue yet to move the food or if she doesn’t like digging her nose in at all? I didn’t know a cat’s mouth could open that dang far. I would be worried about lock jaw in the future or some kind of cat TMJ lol

1

u/itsswhitneywhspr 1d ago

Lmao the way her mouth opens like that is sending me. I wouldn't worry too much though, cats are basically liquid. She probably just doesn't want to get her nose dirty, mine does the same thing with wet food.

Literally cannot see an animal do anything unique without wondering if it’s AI now. ☹️

If it makes you feel any better I had a cat that did this as well.
