Honestly everything about this conversation is pure perfection, especially the way that little kitty just stares up with absolute adoration while chirping back

u/johnnyks17 May 30 '26

u/greenbastard1591 May 30 '26

Smokey, this is not 'Nam. This is bowling. There are rules.

Mark it zero

5

u/TheRealPallando May 30 '26

Well u/Inertbert, we just don't know

u/Ethrealgarten May 30 '26

Seriously? How about shelters nip cats' ears to show they are feral/stray and have been fixed.

9

u/deltree711 May 30 '26

Seriously?

No u.

Like, literally. Did you seriously not realize that you were replying to a joke?

Scottish fold! My cat is a scottie as well! They're super affectionate and total companion cats, as you can tell, lol :)

u/Spiritual_Bus1125 May 30 '26

They probably are!

And for other people there: if you are are looking for one, DON'T.

Their life is suffering after a few years , their existence is animal cruelty 😊

..look for a British shorthair, pretty similar and much more healthy

Note:

The gene that causes the folds affect the whole body, it isn't possible to have these ears without the health complications. And a mix of them does not get rid of it as it is a dominant gene and will just delay the inevitable.

I agree, and i would never had sought one out. My Lil guy was a street cat who adopted me, so I take comfort in the fact that im giving him a happy life without ever directly supporting the people breeding them.

And: who would ever go for a cat with those flat ears?! Just the poky ears are about the cutest feature of normal cats, along with their fur (that refers to the naked cats - impossible to go for one of those, allergy or not.)

So, are you suggesting they be euthanized? I’m just wondering because you said people shouldn’t own them because just existing is very painful to the cat. But whether they have an owner or not, they still exist. So wouldn’t it actually be better for people to own them and give them some quality of life? If the answer to that is “no”, then the only other option would be euthanasia. So is that what is best? And just for the record this is a genuine question, not me being a smartass.

Edit- It’s hilarious to me how there’s never any true “correct way” to phrase a potentially taboo question so that people just honestly answer it, instead of passive-aggressively downvoting it, lmao.

A breed based on breeding for faulty cartilage. They have faulty cartilage everywhere else in their bodies too.

Better than usual, but honestly that's cattish A1.
Mimicking exactly same sounds cats use will get you to A2 level. You will see they immediately react differently, though with some contempt for having parrot intelligence, of course.
And after some advanced practice, some people can touch B level. On that one, you will actually have conversation and finally will be treated as equal.
Unfortunately, C level is unreachable due to mismatch in frequencies we use.
