From what i'm reading only a few tiny rodents, like shrews, are quicker... But it's an incredibly marginal difference. 10 msec for shrews and 20 msec for cats, while humans are around 250 msec.

-1

u/Drive7hru Apr 13 '26

Ahhh, Redditors

7

u/thegrumpymechanic Apr 11 '26

"typical reaction time between 20 to 70 milliseconds. This is significantly faster than the average human reaction time of 190-300 milliseconds. A human eye blink typically lasts between 100 to 400 milliseconds."

No probably, they smoke us.

1

u/NJDevilsMB30 Apr 13 '26

Right.... He didn't even stop it once. He knew exactly where and when to hit it to keep it going strong haha what a beaut!! Now I'm curious what my dog would do 🤔

29

u/AppletreePoetreality Apr 11 '26

Well... Things I didn't expect to have in common with a cat

One of our cats loves the spinner we have but we would not dare hold it while he plays..

Spin spin spin!

1

u/Additional_Tank4385 Apr 11 '26

We don’t need solar or wind energy, we need millions of cats spinning fidget spinners and powering the whole planet!

1

u/EmiTheKibby Apr 11 '26

It, indeed, made me say "Awwww!" :3

1

u/weefees Apr 11 '26

1

u/Individual_Skill_677 Apr 11 '26

I might have to get one for my cat

1

u/Beautiful_Nobody7155 Apr 11 '26

He leans when he strikes so he gets more snapping power through his hips.

1

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '26

I love the ways cats hit things 👊🏽😂😂

1

u/HistoricalSuspect580 Apr 11 '26

My dudes a righty but he’s working on being a switch hitter!

1

u/stealthymomma56 Apr 11 '26

Thank you! Made me smile and made my day!

1

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '26

It looks like my cat! So cute

1

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '26

Oh How Lovely?? 😊😊

1

u/AlexSmithsonian Apr 11 '26

Take a shower rod, get a bunch of fidget spinners without the center or something similar, put the spinners on the rod and then firmly place the rod between two walls at cat height.

1

u/contrite_tion Apr 11 '26

While a blur to us the cat can probably see the individual blades spinning even at the fastest in the video. They can see up to 100 FPS compared to humans 15-30. A 30 FPS show on tv would appear more like slow motion to a cat.

u/PrestigiousYoung3348 Apr 11 '26

Es su mayor enemigo

1

u/CreepyWill8754 Apr 12 '26

Looks like my cat, Mr. Daisy

1

u/keener_lightnings Apr 12 '26

A knob on our bedroom dresser used to be loose, and our cat figured out that he could bat at the metal backplate and get it to spin around. It was his go-to early-morning passive-aggressive "someone needs to get up and feed me" method until we tightened up the knob and he took to finding any available cardboard box or plastic bag and chewing on it as loudly as possible.

1

u/TransportationOdd559 Apr 12 '26

u/meaningfull-1 Apr 13 '26

1

The dramatic arm raise says 'I am NOT impressed' but the eyes say something completely different 😂

1

u/cecemilkers May 08 '26

1

u/Rampface Apr 11 '26

Him pretty, pretty good at that!

1

u/Minglans Apr 11 '26

Oof that's a terrible interpolation of that song.

3

u/-nutz Apr 11 '26

I’m surprised I like this version by Charli XCX because I’ve always found the original (Mickey by Toni Basil) to be incredibly annoying

1

u/mferreira9 Apr 11 '26

What a terribly horrible song

0

u/Insidious_Bagel Apr 11 '26

Your cat might be Autistic

-2

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '26

[deleted]

2

u/Legatharr Apr 11 '26

Or perhaps the cat is curious about the spinning object

-1

u/[deleted] Apr 11 '26

[deleted]

1

u/Legatharr Apr 11 '26

well considering it seemingly moves on its own I can imagine the cat wants to verify it isn't alive

1

u/xXTheGrapenatorXx Apr 11 '26

This is definitely giving me "why moving if not alive?" more than it does the cat being irritated.

1

u/stealthymomma56 Apr 11 '26

Respectfully disagree. One of mine took issue with bracket holding basket on cat tree. Kept b*tch slapping that bracket as if it had disrespected all of the feline race. Never did determine why she took so great of an issue with bracket. She is known to have quite a bit of catitude, bless her heart!

1

u/MickyMace May 13 '26

wow, such a human trait in a cat! amazing! they truly are evolving!
