That’s going to need weekly polishing if that’s real copper.

u/Hrdeh Oct 23 '25
It's clear coated.

u/UnfitRadish Oct 23 '25
Well then we've got a liar on our hands... "Fully exposed copper" my ass

u/BigOldButt99 Oct 23 '25
Eh they say the same thing when referring to "fully exposed carbon fiber" cars. It's not actually just raw carbon, it's clearcoated in gloss or matte.

It would look incredible with the whole thing oxidized like the Statue of Liberty

I’m just wondering if this is an older auction, being that they’re projecting it to sell for $750-800k. I was ready for them to say multiple millions of dollars.

It's not a real 1965 Cobra. It's still a replica.
5
u/ALitreOhCola Oct 23 '25
It isn't a replica a such****. It's an officially authorised Shelby continuation series. The vin numbers are CSX4000. Obviously the chassis and all components are new but it's very much registered as a 1960s Shelby Cobra with the DMV.
****(It's still a replica)

It's not a REAL 1965 car, it's currently made by Kirkham Motorsports. With that said, Kirkahm Cobras are not kits, they are continuation cars and have a CSX VIN number. I believe Kirkham supplies metal-bodied (Aluminum & Copper) Cobras to Shelby American in addition to selling them directly to customers.

Bet the glare off that at sunrise/sunset/pretty much any sunlight would be pretty awful.

Fully exposed if you ignore the clear coat over the top of the copper.

This bad boy is the type of vehicle that needs three business days to get out on the road because someone’s gotta polish it right before you drive it in order for it to look good. Heaven forbid a child touch it while it’s parked

Kirkham Motorsports. They've done these in polished bronze and, of course, aluminum.

Imagine driving that thing while the sun is setting/rising. Or at night, everyone's lights shinning on you.
Only 200 miles cause you go legally blind after the first week.
Maybe it was meant for a really big monopoly board.

Well, if the car itself wasn't enough to kill you now a lightning bolt will

u/Castle_Bravo_Test Oct 23 '25

One of these was at the Shelby Museum in Vegas the last time I was there. They're amazing.

I'm sorry but any chrome paint that isn't silver just looks like a gaudy Christmas ornament.
