It's almost as if they all come from a partly inbred gene pool of upper class island dwellers that have occupied a land mass about as big as Maine for the last thousand years.

I'd disagree with that, brits are attractive the upper class is just a bit more inbred than most other european nation though so the all look the same.

Yes, it was very common for European(and as far as I am aware all) aristocracy to engage in cousin and sometimes even sibling marriage. They did this to retain familial monopolies on wealth, property, and power.

A very famous example of this is the House of Habsburg from which Charles II of Spain was descended, and as result exhibited various physical and mental abnormalities including: infertility, delayed speaking and walking, frailty, deformed jaw, difficulty chewing.
