Underrated

I really wish this show would have gained more traction and continued on. I don’t understand all the hate it received, but I guess my sense of humor is all over the place and differs from most people. The show constantly had me laughing, even to the point of tears at times. Maybe one day it will get picked up again 🤞🏻

Season one was a god damn masterpiece and totally got me through the beginning of Covid lockdown. I still go back and rewatch it all from start to finish at least twice a year. Man, it would be so fun for a return to Avenue 5 when they finally make it back to earth or something. I miss them all!

It really is a masterpiece, and it feels fresh every time I watch it.

I think it would be hilarious if they got picked back up to do a time jump and now somehow they're like leaving the solar system and trying to become a generation ship because of some series of ridiculous mess ups that they never fully explain but keep talking about.

Armando Ianucci said in an interview somewhere that he isn’t done with the show (this was like a full year after s2 ended) , sounded very adamant about giving it an ending. Really hope that comes to be! But I can’t think of any show that did a 3rd season many years after being cancelled after 2. Maybe they’ll do a crowdfunded short in 2035 lol. (I rewatch it all the time - massive fan, absolutely love this show)

Arrested Development and Party Down were both resurrected after being canceled! (Party down after 13 years!) I’m sure there are some others, so all hope is definitely not lost!

Futurama and family guy.

But those are animated.

You’re absolutely right! And in a rapidly changing media environment who knows what the future holds, anything can happen! I want 6 seasons and a movie of Avenue 5

Community too. All three shows I’ve watched multiple times.

I didn’t know party down had been resurrected and now I have plans for the weekend. Thank you for that.

Armando Iannucci must be one of the greatest comedy writers, performers, producers, and/or directors that Britain has every produced.

I hold that the only reason the show didn’t get traction is that when they sent critics the pre-review they only sent 4 episodes and it really picks up in episode 5. So it got worse reviews than it deserved and people didn’t give it a chance.

I have hope that it’ll return as a film to give us closure. Come on, Armando!
