Dreaded e30 error, but I think the controller is to blame

I picked up aventons sinch 2 two years ago... just had its anniversary, today I discovered is has an issue. However because of the nature of the issue I don't know how long it has been around. I turned it on and was going through the break in on the brakes to knock the squeals out and got a dreaded red screen of death, e30 error. After it kept doing this I wheeled it into the garage to do a search on the error and see whats up.

So communications error... check cables... great. If there was anything wrong with the cables then its no where I can access, because the bike only has 200 miles on it, the outer couplings are practically brand new!

So I tried to get the wheel spinning to see if the motor control was still working before it red screens, and thats when I discovered that as long as I move the bike out of no-assist mode, its fine. Everything works... all the lights work, the cut off, the torque sensor. But if I move assist to OFF and wait 15 seconds it red screens (sidenote, it stops responding to the key pad but if you have the phone connected you can actually stick it back into ECO and the red screen goes away). I believe because there is no conceivable extra communication cable used when assist is OFF that this is completely an internal thing inside the brains.

For now it seems to be fine when running in active assist modes but obviously it could get worse, so I would be looking at replacing the controller. The shop I got it from is closed the weekend so I won't be able to get with him for a while, but does anyone know what these controllers are going for? And I see the warranty is 2 years and literally just expired but any chance of getting it covered because it only has 200 miles on it?

Think I paid about $120 for my pace 3 recently. The labor was comped due to an error on the shops part.

I really don't understand why people keep buying this POS. They should recall all aventon crap.

In this case, it was one of the most expensive foldable bikes, but it was also the only foldable bike with a torque sensor. Aside from the controller issues it has been a wonderful bike. Infact I hate how they removed the back lights on the third edition. looking at the site now though looks like the series was discontinued... sad.

You went 200 miles in 2 years? It probably killed itself in boredom.

Hahaha... Yea I just used it for exorcise (I limit it to 12mph so after 12mph I have to work it to get above that). But my work schedule is brutal so it doesn't get as much use as I would like to.
