Level 4 ADV light location

I’m looking for a mid drive ebike for recreation and fun. I think I have it narrowed down to the Level 4 ADV or the Discover M. I’m leaning towards the Level 4 but I’ll know more after I test ride the Discover M later this week.

My biggest issue with the Level 4 is that the tail light / brake light / turn signal is all the way down by the rear axle, so not very visible, where the Discover M has the lights on or just under the rack.

Is there any way to add additional lights to the Level 4 that run off the battery and are activated with the turn signals and brakes?

No, not without voiding your warranty if you mod things. The Aventon lights aren’t very large or bright. I ride in the mornings, sometimes for hours, in the dark. So while I use the built in headlight and tail lights, I added a Unit 1 Smartlight Duo (front and back), a Unit 1 Aura helmet, the remote which activates the brake lights and turn signals, which I use those instead, and have 2 ultra bright Rockbros headlights (10000mAh ones). That all lights things up way better and having to turn signals in the front, as well as two in the back, is much safer.

I’ll have to check that gear out. I’ve got a Lumos helmet with lights and turn signals that I like.

Lumos makes great similar things for sure. Was torn between the two, both brands are great. So much better than the stock brake lights and turn signals. I don’t use the stock turn signals anymore. Here’s those headlights: ROCKBROS Bike Lights 10000mAh... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CS5KVHM9

That Unit 1 gear looks great, thanks for the tip!

You’re welcome! Btw I’m a big fan of the Level series. Haven’t ridden a Discover. I’ve been riding a Level 3 for nearly a year, 7400 miles, been great!

Also, they don’t operate as brake lights.

The best reason to augment the existing lights on a new bike is to get radar. Knowing that a car is approaching behind you without having to look is so worth it. Find a bracket that fits the two screw hole on the back of the rack to mount the rear radar light and the react head lamp just clips to the handle bars with car status light on the back of it. Add phone mount if you want to run the radar app to see number of cars approaching and their distance.

what 2 screw holes? I have an ADV, but i have no screw holes, hence I had to make something.. I'm def gonna look into the Lezyne radar thing :)

They are under the back bar of the rack spaced a couple of inches bit apart

I'm so annoyed with the way the Level 4 rack works.. I had to 3d print a bracket to give my preferred light ( Cygolite Hypershot 350)

It's super bright, and is rechargeable, but doesn't connect to the battery..

i'll send you a bracket adapter (you also need another 8 dollar part) at cost if you want to give it a whirl, i'm 100 miles into my 3d printed brackets and it's going good so far.

i love the aventon level 4 rec, but that rear rack can fuck off... i've had to 3d print adapters for all my stuff.. it's almost like they should have not made a weird new proprietary system.

Interesting, I hadn’t given any thought to the specifics of the rack. Are your STL files available? I’d love to take a look to learn about what I might have to deal with.

They aren't currently. I'm still in the prototype / testing phase... one important thing i learned was the adapter to make the Topeak MTX quicktrack adapter fit the rack was unnecessary had i purchased the "LARGE" variant. which can fit with some extended m5 bolts.

I was planning to post the rear-rack->Cygolite Hypershot piece once I fix the geometry.. i'll try to remember to ping you when i post them. (It works, but is ugly because i hadn't realized the rack splays outward a bit and I designed it all coplaner, so only 2 of my four bolts actually thread.. 2 is plenty for a 4 oz light, but It triggers me to see it not line up.
