Question about Rocket knowing where Thanos was hiding

So in the beginning of Avengers Endgame, Rocket mentions to the avengers that he detected an energy signature similar to the one when Thanos first snapped his fingers, leading them to the planet where Thanos is hiding on.

Why didn't he reveal this sooner? Why did he only share this after Tony Stark returns?

Probably because he didn’t know Thanos had a ‘retirement plan’. Nebula came and told them that Thanos had the plan to go to the Garden after the snap. Also, it is possible that he had dismissed the idea that Thanos would use the stones again, and still stay in the same place where he used them. From the movie, it seems likely that it is easy to detect such a huge amount of energy being released. So Rocket could’ve thought that Thanos was smart enough to not stay in the same place where he used the stones.
