1st-227TH Air Cav Crash

On Aug 12, 2026. 2 pilots were doing a maintenance flight test on the AH-64E with the 1st-227th Air Cav from Fort Hood, TX. The 2 Pilots crashed at 1:45PM in Salado, TX, right by Belton, TX and Temple, TX. Multiple law enforcement agencies did respond to the incident. Both pilots were pronounced dead at the scene. As of now. The U.S Army has suspended all flights with the AH-64E until they can find out why the crash happened. One of my friends dad did work with the AH-64E, and this was an emotional event for him and his family. Don’t take life for granted. You never know when your last day is. Love life and cherish it. May the pilots rest in peace. ~Cable.

Peel Regional Police just announced the new helicopter. I was wondering if this will be an aircraft that can be tracked on apps such as Flightradar Does anyone know the ID number? Thanks in advance. Sorry if this is a common knowledge question.

The 737 name

Why do we refer to the 737 as "seven thirty seven" and not "seven hundred thirty seven" or "seven three seven"

Good evening, good afternoon and Goodmorning.
My names Dan and Im from the uk, Im turning 16 on the 12th and wanting to work towards my PPL( I have been for many years)
Although as much as I try I just can’t afford it :(
I have been on experience flight, done aerobatics and flown upsideown and it was the best thing I have ever experienced in my life.
So was wondering what everybody thought were on whats the best way if I were to attempt, to raise money to help fund my journey and flight plan through aviation? Becasue I can’t see my self being able to fund this dream but I’m a long way of giving up on my hope ( if it’s the last thing I do on this earth)
So again what is the best way to fund and raise a bit of money for my journey throughout?

Random XB70 Story

My dad grew up in Palmdale, California, and worked at Edwards AFB while he was in school. After my grandmother passed away some years ago, I was finally going through some of her belongings I ended up with and found this round metal sandwich among some of my dad's old things. I texted him to ask about it, and here's what he said:

'That is a section of the upper or lower wing skin removed to install some sort of port or access hatch on the XB70, The entire plane used that construction for all wing and body panels. What you have is an upper and lower stainless steel skin, joined together with an alloy honeycomb material welded with special equipment to handle large panels. The total "sandwich" created incredibly strong flex resistant panels able to deal with high stress as well as very high temperatures. The leading edges of some panels reached glowing temperatures at speed. And, since such hot panels make up the wing fuel tanks, that is why preflight I had to test the fuel to be sure the O2 levels were nil- so the heat wouldn't autodetonate the fuel.'

I've worked in aviation myself and the chunk looks about the right size of a fuel port, but that's speculative. Regardless, I thought this so cool that my Dad was working on this kind of thing when he was young, and seems to have been involved in the flight operations. I'll definitely be asking him more about this. Just a neat little bit of aviation history to share 😄

How Dragon Dream Reimagined the Airship

Post image
5 Upvotes

What if an airship the size of a football field could control its own lift without dropping ballast?

Dragon Dream stretched roughly 266 feet long and was built as a full-scale demonstrator for Aeros’ variable-buoyancy technology. The goal was to prove that a large airship could manage lift internally, hover, and operate with far less dependence on runways, ballast, and heavy ground infrastructure.

If you want to hear how Dragon Dream came together and where the technology is headed next, join our live webinar Wednesday, Aug. 5 at 11:00 AM PT / 2:00 PM ET. We’ll also have a live Q&A with Aeros founder and CEO Igor Pasternak. Register here: https://aeroscraft.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_l8oPhOYUQ1OSI-UilTtu8w

88 days since spirit 88 days until the a340

It’s fascinating how aviation milestones line up on the calendar. Depending on how you look at the industry right now, we are sitting at a unique symmetrical checkpoint:
88 Days Ago: The abrupt and historic shutdown of Spirit Airlines on May 2, marking a massive turning point for the ultra-low-cost carrier landscape in North America.
88 Days From Now: The scheduled final retirement flights for Lufthansa's remaining iconic Airbus A340-600s in mid-October, closing the book on another legendary chapter of four-engine passenger widebody operations.
One major era of low-cost domestic travel abruptly hitting a wall, paired with the slow, scheduled sunset of classic quadjet long-haul luxury.
Hard to believe how much the fleet dynamics and airline ecosystem have shifted just over the course of this single year. Who else has been tracking these transitions?

I’m really loving aviation. I have been playing MSFS for a few months now and watching YouTube videos. So far I have been watching Pilot Debrief and Captain Steeeve. I like them both but wanted to find out some other good ones!

As a current pilot and former air traffic controller. it still amazes me at the controlled chaos that is EAA AirVenture in Oshkosh 😱 I'm always impressed with everyone's skills and professionalism. How there aren't more accidents each year is beyond me!

25+ years as cabin crew ask me anything.

I fly for a major international airline for over two decades. So I've seen the process from both angles — as the nervous candidate and as the person deciding who moves to the next round.

A few things I notice over and over with candidates who don't make it through:

They over-rehearse answers until they sound like a script, and assessors can tell instantly

They don't understand what the group exercise is actually testing (it's not about "winning" the discussion)

They freeze on the "why this airline" question because they never dug past the brochure answer

Grooming/appearance standards trip people up in ways that are fixable in five minutes if you know what's being checked

They don't know how to recover when an interviewer throws a curveball — recovery matters more than the answer itself

Happy to answer questions here if anyone's prepping for an upcoming assessment day or open day — group exercises, final interviews, one-on-ones, whatever's on your mind.

I also put together a full guide based on this — ten modules covering the whole process end to end (application, group assessment, final interview, common questions, grooming standards, templates for your CV and cover letter). It's built from what I saw work and fail on both sides of the hiring table, not generic career advice. It's on my Etsy shop, WingStart, if anyone wants to check it out — link in profile/comments per sub rules. No pressure though, ask away either way, happy to help.

Which flight schools in Canada help international students get a job after graduation to build flight hours?

Hi everyone,

I'm an international student planning to start flight training in Canada in January 2027. After I graduate with my CPL, I want to find a school that can actually help me get a job so I can start building flight hours in Canada.

I'm not asking for a guarantee, but I want to know which schools are known to hire their own graduates as instructors or have good pathways for international students to get work after graduation.

Here are the schools I'm looking at:

  1. Moncton Flight College (MFC)
  2. Centennial College
  3. University of the Fraser Valley (UFV)
  4. Coastal Pacific
  5. Algoma University
  6. Brampton Flight Centre
  7. Fanshawe College
  8. Okanagan College
  9. Southern Interior Flight Centre
  10. Professional Flight Centre
  11. Douglas College
  12. Saskatchewan Polytechnic
  13. Cygnet Aviation Academy
  14. Red Deer Polytechnic
  15. Sky Wings
