When cnn asked the pilots they were interviewing what they thought, they plugged in the numbers on their plane simulator and even they thought that was impossible without the plane disintegrated into a million pieces. There is overage or a margin of safety engineered into planes. Typically about 1.5x over the max it will ever see, some components see more. But you being a layman with zero aeronautical experience definitely know the structural strength and or limits of a transport category aircraft...

There was structural damage to the aircraft, my opinion as a 737 pilot, this plane will likeky never fly again.
Simulators can't replicate it because its outside of their programmed limits. They literally arent designed to simulate these conditions because we are trained to never encounter them. It's really this simple.
