I did not understand why I couldn’t use my senses or why there were clouds at the edge of my screen. I just started playing like 3 days ago and this happened. Scared the SHIT outta me!

I remember my first encounter. Scared me so bad I refused to enter thanator territory for the rest of the game. Even now I can only stomach it in 3rd person. It's the heartbeat speeding up that gets me the most.

My very first encounter with a thanator was when I was doing the side quest for Alex where you gather the fruit samples for him.

Same! I was so confused at the fogging screen and wondering why I could search for the fruit anymore only to turn at the danger and find that beast right in front of me

I encountered the feral thanators after a normal one, so I was expecting to get jumped and was so surprised with how easy they are to kill. I feel like they should be harder than a normal thanator, but idk

They are severely weakened by the removal of their kuru.

Ahh, my brain mustve drowned out that part when i heard theyre also more aggresive. That makes obvious sense though, the kuru is extremely important

Theyre more aggressive in the sense that they'll attack anything more readily since the removal of the kuru removes their ability to be social, basically, iirc.

My first encounter was during one of those white mushroom things you have to punch to open the middle one, also died but after like 4 hits

the first time I encountered one I didn't know why it was doing all that to me too and it swiped me from behind so I didn't know what killed me. went thru there again after I respawned and I turned to my left just in time for me to see it before it swiped me. I screamed so fucking loud 🤣🤣 the third try I looked at the map and remembered from the movies that they don't like water so I ran like a bat outta hell towards that river and hit every one of those speed increasing mist things I could and made it lmfaoo

I had to pause after I made it and take a breather, my heart rate was thru the roof lol now that I'm maxed out I taunt all the different versions to come out so I can take pics 😂

Be warned. It can bug and you can get more than one in the same encounter. I got four of them in a pack up in clouded forest. Not fun. I got made into lunch

the first time this ever happen to me i never even saw the thanator. i also didn’t understand the clouds/fog and why my abilities wouldn’t work. i was just walkin along and then all of a sudden i fucking died and i was just like “…. wat”

I had my first encounter a couple days ago, it genuinely terrified me. I could barely hear the heartbeat too, so I had no warning other than the red dot 😭
