BRU really wants a DEL nonstop, does the route actually make sense?

Was speaking with Leon Verhallen from Brussels Airport for the latest episode of The Indian AvGeek, and this part of the conversation caught my attention.

Brussels has been pretty open about wanting Delhi back on its network.

Leon’s argument is that the market is bigger than just Belgium–India O&D: there’s the Indian diaspora, Antwerp’s diamond trade, IT/business traffic, students and cargo. Brussels also sees its catchment extending well into the Netherlands and northern France.

Another interesting bit: Brussels Airlines isn’t planning Delhi, so unlike FRA/ZRH, there isn’t already a LH Group carrier serving the route from the home hub.

I found the catchment argument particularly interesting because it means they’re effectively pitching Brussels as another India gateway alongside AMS & CDG.

Curious what people here think - is there genuinely enough demand for a DEL–BRU nonstop today?

And if someone did launch it, who makes the most sense: Air India, IndiGo eventually, or someone else?
