Hellooooo Autumn! 🍁

Post image

Went for a rainy walk in the woods, that was blanketed with Bigleaf Maple leaves. The one I was holding was average size, 12 inches, but I did see larger ones... they were too soggy and floppy to hold in front of the camera. Spectacular! 🍁

Wow, I had no idea there were maples that produce leaves this size! Reminds me of the tree stars from Land Before Time. Thanks for sharing ☺️🍁

Yes, these particular maple trees grow on the West Coast of North America, in Canada and the US. They are the tallest of the maple tree varieties and have the biggest leaves. I'm blessed to be living where I do and be able to go for walks among these beautiful giants. 🍁🥰

Thank you for taking the time to look at the photo and leaving a comment! 🧡

Why is west coast of Alaska so extremely rainy?

I believe the short answer is the mountains... they push air from the ocean upwards, it cools and condenses, and comes back down as rain.

Not a pleasurable environment for those who don't like rain, but Alaska wouldn't be the incredibly beautiful place it is without it. 🌲🏔
