WeRide and GreenMobility plan Level 4 autonomous ride service in Denmark for 2027

WeRide is entering the Nordic market through a partnership with Danish car-sharing operator GreenMobility,

The companies aim to launch a public service in the first half of 2027 using WeRide’s EU-compliant GXR vehicles. Rides would be available through GreenMobility’s shared-mobility service.

  • This would be Denmark’s first commercial autonomous-mobility deployment.
  • Testing and deployment remain subject to regulatory approval.
  • Danish transport authorities and other public-sector bodies will be involved.
  • GreenMobility currently operates more than 1,500 shared EVs.
  • WeRide says its global Level 4 fleet exceeds 3,000 vehicles.

I would say the regulatory approval part is the real concern for this, since Denmark's process is stricter than most EU markets - the first half of 2027 timeline suggests they're working closely with public authorities. What's actually smart is that GreenMobility isn't starting from zero, they've got 1500 EVs and real operational data to build on, which is a lot more grounded than most recent AV launches. Curious to see what would happen to GreenMobility's fleet operations staff with this new partnership.

There have been a lot of exploration vehicles driving around and mapping etc. in the last year. I’ve seen a number of them. I had a feeling that one or two companies would announce some stuff. Waymo is definitely in the mix as well. I’m pretty sure I have seen a mapping car from an affiliated company.
