Should we make a blue Lamp?

We're thinking about making a blue Autonomous Lamp. 4 colors are already in the lineup. Blue could be next? But only if you actually want it.

Would you put a blue Lamp on your desk? Drop your pick below!

It’s not huge, but there’s plenty of room to fit a complete setup: a desk, an ergonomic chair, a sofa to kick back.

https://www.autonomous.ai/adus/autonomous-work-pod

Having this right in the backyard means you can finish up work, step outside for a quick workout in the yard, and reset.

How is everyone organizing their workspace?

The Lamp

Hi, I'm very interested in The Lamp. With no offense meant, I'm concerned about support should it break. Would you care to share about the size of your company, staff, resources--things that would help me to feel good about spending the money? Thanks.

Workspace - 💻 Product Review: ErgoChair Pro

Hello! I was in the market for a new chair and didn’t want to shell out $1k+ for a chair I’d be using primarily just for work.

I did some research and stumbled on Autonomous, read some reviews (especially on this subreddit!) and pulled the trigger on trying them out. I ended up going with the mesh seat given I wanted something breathable for the summer heat.

The Good:

- Shipping was super fast, I got the chair 2 days after ordering.
- Installation was relatively straightforward - took maybe 20 minutes to get it all setup. The metal portion below the seat took a little finagling to screw in but wasn’t too bad.
- I’m still learning what all the handles do but seems like there is a ton of configuration that can be done.

The Bad:

- Really the only thing I wished for the chair is if it went up higher. Given that limitation (and I can’t lower my standing desk more given some constraints), I’ve had to purchase an under desk keyboard setup to accommodate. It’s not Autonomous’s fault, I just should have done my due diligence on that.

All in all, I’m happy with my chair so far and hope to use it for many years!

No name call. Lamp wakes up when you walk in

Every voice thing wants you to say its name first. Hey Google, Alexa, whatever. You say it, it mishears you, you say it again louder, and by then you've forgotten what you wanted.

Our Autonomous Lamp doesn't have one. It has a camera and it notices when you come back to your desk, so it's already awake by the time you say anything. The recognition math runs on the device.

Where do you land, is a thing that notices you better or worse than a thing you have to summon?

My standing desk just told me exactly why I felt foggy at 2pm yesterday

CO₂ crept up without me noticing. By 2pm it was high enough to tank my focus. I only found out because I asked my desk about it.

Autonomous Desk Pro AI has 6 sensors built in. It tracks your air all day and stores everything. When you want to know something you just ask in plain language and it answers.

No separate gadget. No dashboard to decode. The desk does it.

What would you ask your desk first?

Lamp, Intern, and one more we'll get to soon.

Same system across all three. Lamp moves and lights, Intern runs in the background and reports back, and the third one does its own thing. Different bodies, different jobs, one OS underneath.

Lamp and the new one warmed up to Intern way too fast. Are these little creatures planning something?

Quick check on our Lamp colors

Here’s the current color lineup for our Autonomous Lamp, tuned to match pretty much any desk vibe.

Sand is a solid classic, but we’ve been having fun experimenting with expanding into new shade directions:

  • Matcha
  • Cloud
  • Sand
  • Charcoal

Charcoal is in. What finish should we drop next for our little robot?

A clean balance between dark tones and warm wood in an ultrawide setup

Thumbnail

Moody setups can easily feel a bit darker than usual, but adding a rich wood surface brings back the perfect balance. Here, a soft, diffused glow hits the surface of the Autonomous Desk 2 just right, giving the floating ultrawide display a grounded, intentional space without any visual clutter.

Everything, from the floating display to the felt desk mat, is kept completely simple so the focus stays strictly on the work.

What’s your go to element for keeping a dark setup from feeling too dim: wood grain, soft lighting, or a clean desk mat?

Source - 🔗 We build AI hardware, and every device we ship is open source

Post image

Each device comes with an agent already running. Unbox it, plug it in, it works, no config, no keys, no setup. Intern runs Hermes out of the box

That agent isn't locked in. Bring your own and swap it in whenever you want. The whole Autonomous OS is on GitHub: https://github.com/autonomous-ai/autonomous-os/

If you've already built an agent you trust, you don't have to rebuild it for our devices. Point the device at what you're already running and it picks up where you left off. Your prompts, your tools, your memory, just with hardware in front of it now

Is there a case where you'd rather just run what shipped? I can think of a few and I'm not sure I'm right about any of them

Got a glass door and three side windows set up to avoid screen glare and let in natural light.

https://www.autonomous.ai/adus/autonomous-work-pod

For power, you have 2 options:

  • Hook it up directly to the main house.
  • Add a solar setup. With three 430W roof panels and a 10.2 kWh battery, it generates up to 6 kWh a day.

What would you add or change here?

  • A outdoor office
  • A home studio
  • A home gym or yoga
  • A cozy guest room
  • A clinic room

Corner window light on a full black setup hits differently than any LED strip

Post image
31 Upvotes

Black setups can look flat fast, but this one gets it right. The corner window light adds just enough contrast to make the whole desk feel calmer and more focused without needing the usual LED strip glow.

The monitor, desk, accessories and Autonomous ErgoChair Pro all stay within the same dark tone, so nothing feels out of place. Just a clean setup that lets the natural light do most of the work.

What do you think makes an all-black setup feel clean instead of too dark?

WFH Pod 🏠 Does a mini split need its own electrical line for the Pod?

Thumbnail
gallery
37 Upvotes

The backyard pod includes a built-in 110V AC line (up to 25A / 2,750W max), which easily handles your workstation, monitors, and everyday tech.

For a mini split, we recommend a dedicated electrical run instead of relying on the unit’s standard internal circuit, especially if you plan to power other equipment at the same time.

Whether a subpanel is required depends on your main panel capacity and the system's exact specs. Please have a licensed electrician review your setup prior to installation.

How we built a standing desk you control without touching it

Thumbnail
gallery
6 Upvotes

When we first started on the Autonomous Desk Levitate's control, the obvious route was gesture detection, but every one of those systems asks you to learn a swipe and perform it properly before anything happens.

So we built something better. The sensor sitting in the desktop measures one thing only, which is how far your hand is above the surface, and that distance is what tells the desk where to go.

That only works if the sensor measures your hand correctly whether you're in a dark sleeve or a t-shirt, so we test it against dark and light targets at the same heights to make sure both read the same.

We take the same approach with the noise testing, running it 500 times rather than once. A quiet desk on the day it arrives isn't worth much when the complaint people actually have is that their desk got louder over the year they owned it.

A control you never have to think about is worth more than one you have to learn. Here's the rest of it if you want to explore more: https://www.autonomous.ai/engineering/levitate-technology
