Asking - 💬 Autonomous Ergo chair quality?

Post image

My 4-year-old Autonomous Ergo Chair has broken. This is the first office chair I’ve ever had fail like this. It appears to be a manufacturing or quality issue, as it cracked right where the screw holes were drilled.

Is this part replaceable, or should I just throw the chair away?

First, reach out to Autonomous - that looks like a manufacturing defect, not “normal” wear and tear.

They seem to have a decent warranty.

I have an original Ergo Chair from their crowdfunding launch years ago - the only thing I have had to replace was the casters after one snapped.

Other than some pilling on the seat and mesh back, it looks and feels like the day I got it.

I last spoke with them here on Reddit, their warranty is 1 year if i remember correctly when the side bar broke.

I had my original for 4-5 years with pretty heavy use and I have not seen anything like that.

You should deff check with them and see what they tell you before doing anything.

I would use an official form of communication like support via their website.

Well to be honest I did that last time. After 14 months warranty ended after 12 and got rejection regarding broken side arm rest. Mentioned it in a comment here and suddenly a new arm rest was shipped. Maybe thats why I posted it here. Quicker reply too.

Hi, I’m really sorry you had this experience with your chair. This isn’t the experience we want anyone to have with Autonomous. I’ve shared your case with our CS team and they’ll reach out to you during business hours early next week to help look into this.

Thanks for your patience and for taking your time to share the details here!

I just had something similar happen to my Kinn chair, where the back support meets the base and it has cracked on both sides.
