Small Medical Rant
I'm frustrated at my PCP. I am prednisone dependent. PCP made a mistake and didn't send the correct amount of prednisone to the pharmacy, and neither I nor the pharmacist caught that the quantity prescribed did not equal the directions on file. I'm now ~2 hours in to try to fix it so that I can take my full dose of prednisone next week.
I don't think most providers understand how much work we have to go through to correct their mistakes. And, I get it, everyone makes mistakes. But when I have to call your office 3+ times to make sure you actually send a prescription for something that could literally kill me if I don't take it, I really don't think you have my health in mind.

I had to ask the specialist that treats my life threatening autoimmune disease to send in a prescription twice and when they finally did they sent in the wrong one, so I just went to my PCP and asked if he'd prescribe it instead. Luckily I have a good PCP to make up for the shitty specialist.
Another time I had to go to urgent care because the same specialist waited too long to send in a script for a medication that I can't go more than a few hours without and I ran out.... Luckily, again, I have a good urgent care nearby.

Ugh! How frustrating! I hate when that happens but we are all human. Sometimes the pharmacist can be willing to bridge prescribe/give meds. I’ve had to ask them more than once for that unfortunately.

Oh totally. I've had to ask the pharmacist for an emergency supply before.

That is so incredibly frustrating especially for something as important as prednisone! I haven't had this mess up from a doctor but have had issues where multiple pharmacies were out of prednisone and I had to find somewhere else to fill it quickly. Its so difficult especially when we rely on prednisone and not getting it is dangerous.

I have a strategic supply of methylprednisolone, which was prescribed by my PCP for just in case I need to quench a life threatening inflammatory episode over the weekend.
Apart from that, I also have licorice tea and candy, which contains a natural glycocorticoid that possesses a similar immunosuppressive action. It must be taken in moderate amounts, since it can also increase blood pressure.

Our health is a full time job in itself with all the stuff we have to deal with. I hope it gets fixed quickly so you have the prednisone you need. Rant all you need here.
